make a shortcut of the Diablo II.exe on your desktop and rightclick on it. You should see a Target field which looks like this (example)

"c:\program files\Diablo II\Diablo II.exe"

Now, change the target to this

"c:\program files\Diablo II\Diablo II.exe" -w
