Odd Sound Problem

Well, my sound here at home will not work. The sound card is fine (I think), I just got new drivers installed for it, and whenever I adjust the volume I hear a beep instead of the standard little ding.

Can anyone help me out? I'm willing to crack open the PC if need be, but I would prefer against it.

Revert to your old drivers. (and if it never worked in the first place, go to my computer->properties->hardware->device manager, and find your sound-card there. If there's a little yellow thingy beside it, its most probably because of an IRQ conflict. You can try setting them manually, but I'd just suggest switching PCI slots. )
