So yeah, few days and that guy has already shut down Guantanamo, put together a somewhat coherent looking economic stimulus package, authorized embryo research and is about to pull Bush's abortion laws. I was pessimistic at first but it seems that guy actually genuinely wants to turn USA around. Im still waiting for him to wave his magic wand and make all the earth's problems disappear but so far its not a bad start. What do you guys think about his first week as president?

he obviously has hell of a lot of stuff to live up to. so far so good I guess.

Kinda funny how half of the stuff he talked about in the Inauguration speech were direct mistakes Bush made, and bush was sitting like 10 feet away the whole time.

Im watching CNN here in Toronto, doesn't seem like Bush is mentioned by the media at all anymore, its almost like everyone is just happy that they can forget about him now. But yeah, so far, so good, lets just hope he keeps up the trend and carries it over to the foreign policy. The whole Pakistan bombing thing was the right thing to do, US needs to pull out of Iraq and go there Al Qaeda really is if they want to catch Osama and Al Qaeda is in Warizistan which is in Pakistan.

Wrong. He's started the wheels to close it down, but he can't simply just wave a magic wand and go "this is closed". Anyone who thinks he closed it within 2 days of becoming president...well, I feel bad for them. They either have bad info, or they're idiot. It's not closed yet, and probably won't be for at least another year. Theres still about 300 prisoners in there, and only around 80 are said to "have a trial". The rest are to be picked up by other countries (in talks with GB now, as well as other countries), or killed, or whatever. It's a Prisoner of War camp, those things don't just get shut down overnight.

The rest was pretty accurate though. Although lifting bands and changing a law is shit presidents do on a daily / weekly basis, so it shouldn't really be that big of a deal. Except it's abortion and stem cells, so it is.

He looks like he's heading in the right direction of just about everything, which is a bad sign. Seems like he's too good to be true, which often times leads to disaster.

You're just bitter that your "LACK OF EXPERIENCE OH NOES" theory didn't come to pass. Presidents have always relied heavily on their advisers, Bush was no different. Though some of his advisers were insane.

You're definitely right about Gitmo though, I'd be surprised to see it fully closed within a year. You can't just close up shop with hundreds of people in some ambiguous legal limbo.

Anyway here's hoping that he keeps up the good work.

I knew it wasn't actually closed yet, shutting down is a process. After 8 years of Bush and the super-do-nothing-congress, that made the original do-nothing-congress look good things getting done on a daily basis is already a miracle. Yeah, I'm still cautious as well, we'll have to wait longer to see how it all unfolds. He'll has a lot of things to fix foreign policy wise, after Bush America's image world wide was ruined he'll have to do a lot of things right to repair it. Laying out a plan to pull out of Iraq and concentrating more on Afghanistan would be a good move.

Uhhh....what?
Hey, let's vote for a guy that's only politicing experience is trying to get to the next level.

What next, emperor of the world?
Anyone with half a brain can see that he clearly isn't ready for this job, and that he's taking a position that's way over his head. I mean shit, when he was announced winner and said his little speech...no where in there did he say anything to the 50million of us that voted against him. No "give me a chance", no "try it and see", nothing. Just said how awesome he was, how he came from nothing (LLLLLLLLLOL yeah right you don't come from nothing and become the president), and how the "people" are the "real change".

Blow it out your ass. At least for the next 4(8?) years I can be as annoying as the anti-bush faggots have been the past 8 years.

"Not my president".
Yeah...
