I got sick of playing half-assed RPG maps made by people that don't know what the hell they are doing, SO I'm making my own.

This is not your normal RPG map, no! Northern Territories has been planned to be a series of at least four maps. The unique thing about these four maps it that they scroll.

What the hell do you mean by 'they scroll' you ask?

Scrolling, like how you scroll a page up or down. The map version of scrolling works in a similar way. In the first map(currently working on) there are two major cities, one in the top left corner of a 256x256 map, and the second city in the lower right corner. Its this second major city that becomes the first major city in the second map.

So, in the first map, City #1 is in the top left and City #2 is in the bottom right. In the second map, City #2 is it the top Right and City #3 is in the bottom left. In the third map City #3 is in the top left and City #4 is in the bottom right. Finally in the fourth map City #4 is in the top right and the enemies capital is in the bottom left.

I'm keeping the story line a secret until the maps are released. I'm also keeping the 'hero' unit types a secret as well. I can tell you that you will have 12 heros to choose from. The MP maps are being made for 2-6 players. The SP edition of the maps will be one player only, that way you can't play the easier SP maps in MP. Why are the SP easier? Because there is just the one player, so you don't need the extra spawn points and enemy units that are in the MP edition. Of course I am assuming that people won't be dicks and use the cheats in SP, that totally defeats the idea of 'Practicing' with each hero to see which you like best.

I can tell you that all heros have the EXACT same HPs and damage, except for the protoss heros, they have minimal shielding.

CrookedFoot has said he will help out when he has the time, so I guess you could call him a 'Co-Creator' of Northern Territories.

Each map will follow the same story line and have the same main name, Northern Territories, but will have a different Title. Meaning the first map is: Northern Territories: Primary Encounter, and the fourth map is Northern Territories: The Final Push.

All four maps will be completed and tested fully before they are released in a .zip that will be available for download, if I can find someplace to host it.

If anyone is interested in helping to create these maps, hit me up on AIM, NeutronHInc. Please make your first message "I'd like to help with NT" thanks.

I need someone that can make 'kick ass' cities. I also need a Trigger Wiz, being as how these will be my first custom maps.

Anyone that helps in the creation will be in the credits, also anyone that helps test them will be in the credits.

Even though this is usually a useless question, I was wondering... Is this for BW? Because I can't find it anywhere, here :(

Anyway, how exactly would you do that in MP? I'm not entirely sure about this, but I thought campaigns (as in changing map after a trigger is made, because I suppose that's what you want to do here) didn't work in MP. At least a test I did, 5 years ago, didn't. Things may be different now :D Unless the test was wrong ;)

Bummer, you need BW to play the maps.

For the SP edition I am going to make them campaign style, using the trigger to go from one map to another. For the MP edition, you can play the maps in any order you want, but obviously they are best played in the correct order.

1: For Single Player they will be campaign-like. Using the trigger that will start up the next map in the series after you finish the one before it. I'm thinking that if I DO do it this way I will figure out a way to make it so the player is the same hero in each map. So say in the first map you pick the Witch, you would stay the Witch throughout the rest of the maps. Experimentation needs to be done if I choose to do it this way. I still have alot of ideas rolling around my head and haven't desided on the best way to do things yet. Since these are my first custom maps its a learning experiance for me.

2: Yes, I am dedicated. I'm getting sick of playing half-assed RPGs that are made these days. Most of the ones I've played lately are just shoot shit, upgrade your weapons and go shoot some more shit. What ever happend to the good maps that took hours to beat!? Where are the people that made those maps!? Gone, replaced by people that just want to say they made something.

I want to create something for people to enjoy, I want to bring back the maps that take hours to beat with teamwork!

If I wanted to pay someone to do stuff, I'd pay someone to make the whole map. :p

If you want to help for free, thats another story... :D

Well you wouldn't be paying just anyone. You'd be paying for the best! Sign up now for a 5% discount on all triggers for maps 120k or less!

I don't pay people, period. If you want to help, you will have to do it for your name being in the credits. Also the map is already over 390k in size, damn sounds! :p

If you don't want to help, say so and stop wasting both our time. (not ment to sound rude)

I'm being sarcastic, hence the smiley at the bottom. I'll help you with any trigger problems you might have, but I rarely do triggers for other people nowdays. Only to repay favors, demonstrate tricks, or else if I'm in an especially good mood... or else if someone pays me. ;) C'mon, I'm worth it, right? Right?!

I know you were being sarcastic, I was just pointing out that we shouldn't waste eachother's time with needless sarcasim.

As of now I'm still working on the terrain and haven't even started on the triggers, I am however setting up locations as I go. I don't really want someone to do the triggers for me, I want to at least try to get them on my own before I break down after days of getting nowhere and finally ask for help.

Note: To anyone that wants to help out with this project of mine, I would prefer you use AIM or MSN to provide that help. I just like real-time help, makes it alot easier. Do not bother asking if I use Yahoo, I hate Yahoo and will never use it! :p

Also, if I have a choice of getting something for free or paying for it, I'll go for the free option every time, unless I can only get it by paying for it.

Once I have the first map done, triggers, terrain, locations, everything and find out the final size of the map, I will then have to deside if I want to leave the sounds I want to use in or take them out.

Sarcasm isn't needless: it proves a point that'd be boring and probably go unheaded if explained explicitely: triggers are a bitch to make, and someone who can do them right nowdays is worth their weight in gold. If the parade of shit maps on bnet isn't proof of that, I dunno what is.

Man, my ego is getting too big nowdays, yes?

About your ego... I wouldn't know, haven't known you long enough.

About the 'shit maps'... Yup, it seems like these days people don't know what the hell they are doing.

In some cases, sarcasim is needless. In others, it is fun to toy with people.
