My mother Is from the south and shes for the South but I am glad the north one because our country wouldnt be the same today.

and the tension between the sides are minimal

im actually for the south even though im raised with northern ideals. the confederacy had a very good reason for wanted to split off, keep slavery...but hey, in under 100 years, slavery wouldnt even be needed. And hey, free people do tend to debate things like slavery. and a confederate republic would eventually debate slavery and IMO abolish it. its fun reading up on confederate ideals, you should check it out sometime.

Well, I live in KY and people are really stupid about it here...all you ever see is rednecks wearing rebel flags. It kinda gets all my nerves because you just want to scream, "That shit died over a century ago ><". So ignorant...

yes...but to jd in flames post, at the time there were very good advantages for the south to leave the union...and maybe it would have been a good idea today, who knows...and why do you limit people to having one kind of expression? to wear a confederate jack or wave a confederate flag is ok to express. its better then the anrachy sign IMO

Back in the day, the South had some pretty good reasons for wanting to split, even beyond slavery. It wasnt equal back then.

Today, anyone who is still prejudiced or whatnot is a fool. We are one country, America, and no one should see it differently.

I'm Southern, not born, but being raised. I'm an original Yankee, but in truth, I love the South a lot more. Southern girls > the rest. That statement does have exceptions, though.

Eh, I see our country as a whole. No matter where you go there are going to be hicks and whatnot, so I don't really think that has anything to do with it (though people in some states do differ greatly from people in others). I'm not sure what I would say I'm loyal to, though :/

as everyone else has said.... i dont see much tention now days, but its more of polotics than anything. Northern states tend to be democrat and south republican.

also i seem to feel the south has more hospitallity. Almost everywhere u go there are people saying hello "howdy" etc. Where as to the north, people seem to be in a rush ; not caring for anyone

As Nuts said, south tends to be more hospitible than north. but.... in Houston,Tx. :: We Are Not Friendly On The Road :: especially during rush hours lol, we may be friends with ya before we get in the car, but after that itz ON, hahaha

Since you prolly dont know this, Texas is the only state that can still break away from the U.S. because it was itz own country before it joined, and also cuz it was apart of the treaty to have texas re-initiated(spell'n) after the civil war

I have much pride for the south. I often think about how it would be if the south had won the war. The north would be the same but oh boy the south would be a much stranger place to live.

But then I just come back and realize it is a stupid thought.

i agree on that one; i live in texas as well. Its like road rage for my parents when they go threw the major cities which is the reason why i like to take the back roads to get to places :dance

not only can it break off from the U.S., the texas flag is the only one that can fly equal to the US flag
