Noob D2JSP questions

Hi guys...Yes I'm a noob so plx don't be too hard on me. I checked the stickies and other recent posts that might've answered my questions but I didn't see anything. So...

Okay I paid my 25 bucks got D2JSP and downloaded YAMB to my script files. I followed the directions as best I could and got it to load D2, create a game but then it says script not found. I renamed the lightning script to my character's name like the directions say but it still semms to missing something.

I noticed there are 2 .exe files in D2JSP, the d2jsp.exe and another (which I can't remember the name; I'm at work right now). One opens a long rectangular box where you can edit the settings for script, norm/nm/hell mode, etc. and the other seems to do nothing. I think my problem lies in the first box where the script is specified. In the edit mode there is a default script box and a starter script box. What should be in these?

Does anyone have a dummy's guide to installing YAMB into D2JSP? CoolMission? Oh btw, I'm familiar with mm.bot which is pretty straightforward but d2jsp is a bit more complicated... :rolleyes I'd appreciate any help. Thanks!

Sounds to me like you didn't configure autod2jsp.exe correctly. Remove your password and post the contents of autod2jsp.ini and I'll do what I can.

Let me know if anything looks out of place. Actually, if you could make a step by step guide on how to install the YAMB script to D2JSP and what exactly needs to be configured (besides the obvious one for your character). I know this is asking a bit much so I'll take whatever help I can get.

I don't know how default.d2j is supposed to look offhand, but I'll compare it to mine as soon as i get home.

Thanks Sweaty. The attachment says it's still pending approval, but works when I click on it...Anyway, does it matter that my character's name has an underscore in it? Exactly what files am I supposed to put my character's name in? I tried downloading XP and gave that a try but I still get the same old crapola. I reinstalled YAMB and have it on hold for now. I really am hoping I can get this to work. Can anyone direct me to a detailed installation? Oh btw, I am using the newest version of D2JSP v0.45.29. I know in the YAMB page it recommends v.43. Is there somewhere I can download the earlier version or will the v.45 version work fine?

No offence.. but d2jsp.org HAS a forum as well as a irc channel so why not just ask US for help since we were the ones to make the program ??

Kriss, I mean no offense to you or others from the D2JSP site but I did email njaguar about setting up YAMB but he replied saying he wasn't familiar with the YAMB script. So I posted here.

I did see the new post by kbfirebreather which describes how to set up JSP which I'll tackle tonight trying out the XP scripts. If I can get those to work I'm hoping I can figure out the YAMB scripts as well. My thanks go out in advance to all who can help.

Yes, d2jsp.org has a forum, as does www.battleforums.com and he posted here, not there.

Try changing the lines

 case "DefinitelyASorc":
load("bots/PindleXP.d2j");

to:

 case "ImUsingYAMB":
load("bots/YAMB.d2j");

(ImUsingYAMB being your character's name)


I know it's supposed to use YAMB script by default, but try this just in case.

I had the same problem as you before, try not making a copy of the file name closest to your character but instead, use the file that is closest to your char's type and type in his name and don't copy it. It should work

Thanks for the help guys....in another thread I was told that because my character's name has an underscore in it, the YAMB script won't work... For example: toasty_bread

So the config file name is messed up since it has an underscore in my name...anyone want to confirm this? I already started a new pally with no underscores in his name so I'll see if he'll work...

I would suggest running a friend's character or something first and see if it works with his character. if it does, and ALL you change is the character and account, then it is your character name that is the problem, and you will need to find a new bot. However, I have doubts that underscores wouldn't work... I read that other thread, and it could very likely be his friend simply gave up trying to set up the bot. So ya, try running any YAMB script with any other char and see if it works.. even if that char is a new lvl 1 and can't kill a thing, see if it atleast starts up.

Okay guys....I made my new Hammer pally and he still doesn't work. I followed the set up guide by Traida from the vex forum to the "t" but to no avail. I even downloaded jsp v0.43 in hopes that it was the new version v0.45 that was giving me problems but it wasn't that.

In the autoD2JSP.exe box, there is a default script where you fill in the script name, this is supposed to be bots/YAMB.d2l right? I'm getting script not found and some kind of library failed to load problem. Can anyone give me a set up guide for JSP? I can get the XP scripts to work but the YAMB script has so much hype about it, I would like to use that too.

I got YAMB to work! Thx for everyone who replied for your help. I found that if I didn't edit the default file that it works perfect.
