Non-SCXE RPG?

I've been looking through all the threads to see if there was a way for me to make an RP map without SCXE. I have noticed zero, zip, zilch!! All the ones I have seen involve that program (I don't have it; don't know if I want it; pretty sure I don't, however).

So, without further adue:

Are there any that do not involve SCXE? If so, I'd like to check a few out to make my own.

MY IDEAS:

I've seen some good ideas for spell use, but I am going to expand that by adding several beacons with different colors based on spell type. That being: Summoning, White (healing), Black (harming), and Elemental (non white/black). Magic will use gas. Also, I'm thinking of an 8th magic type. Perhaps enhancement...

Typing the enemies. That's right, attempt to apply elemental properties. I have an idea of how I might do this. It involves a lot of triggers, however.

Evolving stats for character. This looks a bit harder, but I have ideas that involve using minerals. Again, lots o' triggers. I'll have to look into finding a trigger that alters base stats so that a character can go from, say, 10 hp to 9,999 hp.

Using switchs. Something that seems to be lacking. Perhaps others have thought of it. I'd have it so that a switch turns on when a character is able to learn a certain skill (i.e. breeching a new level).

Party Members. I don't know why I haven't seen this, really. Perhaps people just want to rely on other human players. But this would allow, perhaps, futher strategy.

Enemy levels. That's right, as you get stronger, so do your enemies!! I'll have to come up with a spawn point/editor or trigger thing that works. So far, whenever I enter "wait x miliseconds", it only waits about 0 miliseconds before respawing what I want it to.

Also, I need to know if there is a way to add heros that don't already exist. For Example: I was thinking of adding a medic as a hero to such a map. After all, I want the enemy to have medics, but a hero available with a unique name.

It's an idea to do that... i was alos thinking of making a new RPG without using any big editors (my reason is that my dad wont let me re-install sc xe because he accidentaly deleted it and the installing thing on my comp died)

My ideas where like this:

1. Spells involving the following
Light spells - healing light or hurting "undead" units
Dark Spells - healing undead or huting "light" units
Elemental - Grass, fire, and water spells that involve healing, burning, and creating walls from plants.
2. Players who evolve over time.
You char stats would go from 200/1000, to 400, 600, then your unit would change, also you could use a spell to change from a "neutral unit" into a light/dark v of your unit.
3. Groups
You could hire mercenary units (enemy units that were stronger) these would become part of your army, what you could hire would depened where you were on the game map.
4. The terrain would be built so you coul dtravel back and forth
The terrain would be one world where you might have to travel the same peice of land a few times to get to your destination.

Sounds cool. My major question here is, how can I go about doing this? I have a general idea of all the triggers available and how to use them to a certain effect. I'm going to make the experience level based on a score.

I.E. Zergling counts as 1 point. Hydrolisk counts as 2 points. I could, of course, just set a Leader Board [kills] and have x kill = level up.

u can do stuff with scxe but the scxe makes it easyer any way a black beacon hmm i think u need those team color changer thingys and for the hp i trhink it goes

Curent player custom score at least 0
curentplayer custom score is at most 10

Action
Set hitpoint for all ? owned by current plyer at anywhere to 10%

Yes, but then if I have a heal spell, would it prevent it from going above that 10% mark?

I started working on the map. What I've got so far:

3 heroes, 3 teams. They are set to "ally" and "shared vision" and "allied victory". 8 distinct spell types, with up to...8 different spells per (using various ground units as spells).

Heroes:
Red Terran: Ghost Hero (Mel--was Kerrigan)
--9,950 MAX HP
--35 MP (gas)
--5,000 MAX MP (gas)
--Main Hero
--Releases Heroes by finding Towns

Blue Zerg: Hydrolisk Hero (Mar`san--was Hunter Killer)
--9,999 MAX HP
--15 MP (gas)
--3,000 MAX MP (gas)

Teal Protoss: Templar Hero (Zarkor [I think...]--was Tassadar)
--8,000 MAX HP
--45 MP (gas)
--9,999 MAX MP (gas)

Towns:
All towns are invincible to attack (unless otherwise stated ;))
Red Terran:
Good place to rest up. All HP can be instantly restored.
Nuke Silo available for HIGH LEVEL Ghost summon or HIGH COST Ghost merc.

Blue Zerg:
Good place to summon. No limits are placed on [based on character level] summoned creatures.

Teal Protoss:
Good place to rest up. All MP can be instantly restored.

NEUTRAL TOWNS:
These guys will temporarily "join" you, while in town. Mostly medics or sheild generators.

Well... What do you think so far? I haven't tested all the triggers yet. I will also make "money" by having eacy kill go to creating units or upgrading. Upgrading will be placed in preferance as it may get hard to kill without upgrades. You will technically be able to "hire" mercs. But, considering costs v reward, it will be difficult to purchase mercs.

So...what do you think?

thats quite a challenge. im used to all the cool colored text. in order to have more freedom, you should make it an open RPG. like the criticaly acclaimed "quests open rpg 1.1", you can build your own town and such, like buying an entire town. the Hit point max level would be pretty hard though. as for towns, make sure there are plenty of things to buy. gas as mana is not a good idea. use gas as an orginizer (set gas to 5, when you are in this town) and such. mana can be a probe with powerups as a type of spell casting.

Isn't it possible to make coloured text in the normal StarEdit? I read a post about centering text, and the poster said that you can also colour text.

Yes color text does not affect any part of the Staredit program.
To center the text, just use the overlapping back mark.
Put that mark at the beginning of the text to center it.

If your talking about SCXE, I have no idea what you're refering to... Colored and Centered text? And what is "Quests Open RPG 1.1"?

In any case, I think I've severly messed up already... I have the lowest level summon already set well for Mel, but I can't get the "remove" trigger to work... I can't get the "level HP" to work either... I have it based on switches, but I don't know if it's working right... Man... I'm already having too much trouble. I'm working on 1st and 2nd level spells for Mel, then I'll work on Zaran and Mar`san.

I was thinking of having an SCV and Medic available for healing in the White towns. I just need to work on triggers and even place Gateways, perhaps...

I'd post what I have so far, but it is beyond bland. What I have planned now is:

Mel: 8 spells x 8 spell types (up to 64 spells ;))
Medic: Healing/Harming Heals same color, Harms "opposing" color.
Siege Tank: HIGH GROUND DAMAGE SPELL--Stongest as "green"!!
Ghost: Uber spell
SCV: Medic but for Mech
Goliath: High Air damage, Low Ground Damage
Marine: LOW level spells
Firebat: HIGH monster (zerg) damage, LOW mage (protoss) damage
Vulture: HIGH fighter (terran) damage, HIGH shield buster

Still thinking about Zaran and Mar`san. Mar`son, being a "monster" has fewer spells, and is much better at summoning. Zaran has higher magic power, but is aweful at summoning.

I want to make summoning bassed on what you've killed. I.E. Mel kills Hydrolisk, Hydrolisk summon becomes available for all players. This would be Switch "10" or something.

Yes, this is very hard.

Okay... I'm not using SCXE (or going to attempt thus), and I don't want to use color anyway. Anyone got trigger recommendations?

BAm he ment that if u want colored text inseted of that sliver regular one copy the box thingy and past infront of text or what ever
