New bone necro in making, but merc..?

well Im making new bone necro for fun, maybe ill try pvp but..

Im stuck on merc, right now Im thinking of going for norm act 2 defensive for high defence.. but.. then again there's holy freeze or thorn merc in nm...

those auras maybe useful, but its always good to have high def, which I wont be able to get because Im poor now...

What do you think? Do you think I should still go for thorn/holyfreeze? meh well more like Holy freeze.

Holy Freeze is a good one.
My nec uses that for dueling. Works VERY well.

Might would be my 2nd choice.

Don't get Defense, you can get plenty from CTA.

I think the defiance merc is the best for this kind of Necro.

Holy freeze is quite useless, cuz it doesnt slow enemies a lot, and you don't get benefits from the aura; instead, using defiance merc makes him become a stronger tank, with the same damage of the holy freeze one (cold damage from holy freeze is really crappy), but with tons of more defense for both you and him.

And in the last post of this thread, I've suggested the new ladder solution for the gear of your merc.

Holy Freeze isn't that bad. I find it myself to work very well.
Some other people are more defensive, and that's OK. I respect that...

But I'm up in people's faces. I'm everywhere they want to be. lol

anyways, Im probly going to do defensive, but thorn aura merc... wouldnt work right? Because inorder for the dmg to bounce back at the enemy I would have to attack em..? *doesnt know how thorn works now *

Thorns make damage only if you take damage.

In pvm it's nerfed cuz most enemies have tons of hp when compared to the damage they do and to your hp. And they also have phys resist, which decreases again thorns damage.

So, don't go thorns. Go for Defiance, or for Holy freeze (I choose defiance, but if you like defiance, go for it). But imho Might > Holy freeze, cuz Might merc makes more damage, and is faster to kill immunes.

However, CtA doesn't increase defense. It increases your life, mana, and stamina.

btw doesnt cta have the one that increases your defence?

No, the warcry which increases defense is Shout, and CtA doesn't have it.
