I use SCXE and I dled GUEdit cause I want to protect my maps. Anyways, I put everything it a directory, everything is where it should be. I read the readme and it says to load a map. How do I do that? With the open button? Cause there is no load button. Then, to protect it, i'm supposed to "enter my name and email" Where do i do this? Then it says click protect, there is no protect button. I'll post a screeny.

Here is what comes up when i open guedit.jar

Have you tried the SCM Toolkit, it protects maps , and a whole lot more.

I just placed a post at this site, with download address, and my own additions to the installation tuitorial.

""SCM Toolkit --- This is how I got it to work ""

Check out the program, map protecting is easy with it, and it looks like it's tremendously easier than what you are going through.

Good luck,

Do you have JRE 1.2 (Java Runtime Enviroment) installed? Cus you need that to open the .jar files. I think GuEdit is very simple to use, i haven't tried SCM ToolKit yet. Mainly cus my SC cd is gone.

SCM Toolkit only works with StarCraft set to version 1.07.

It will work with Broodwar maps though.

I put download info, and setup in another post.

Since the setup is in a folder other than the main StarCraft folder you play out of, you will have nothing to worry about as far as online fun.

Ok... I figured out what was wrong. You have set your zip program to open .jar files, and this is wrong. Simply go to the zip programs settings/options, and unmark .jar files, in the section where you can view which files the zip program is associated with. Ok... i really messed this up... You know what i mean, right?

Well, i use WinRar, and i like it, altho it's exactly the same as every other zip program. If you want GuEdit to work, open your zip program, go to 'Options', and see if you can find a list of files that your zip program is associated to, and if you see 'JAR' in that list, unmark it. I attached a screenshot of how it looks like in WinRar.

Thx you guys. I finally got it to work. I merely changed what the zip program opens, like cerebral said, and it worked. I just have one more question. I loaded a map and protected it. It said it was protected and all that. Then I saved the map, but I can still open it. Is that because it was saved on my computer? Like, if I were to go online, would other people be able to open it? Or is it only the person who protected it in the first place?
