Need help with guedit again

GUEdit has been working fine for me. Then suddenly i tried to use it and the .jar file didn't work. Instead of wordpad like icon, it had a white piece of paper with the windows logo as the icon. When I trie to open it, i get a pop up box. One of those "What program would like to open this file with" thingys. Then there's a list of programs. Like AIM, Wordpad, Photoshop, etc. How do i get guedit to open? I've tried redownloading it too.

i think you need to redefine the format?

The .jar file shud be opened in 'javaw'.

ok heres your problem i think, you deleted your java runtime files or whatever its explained in the readme here ill paste part of it: I assume you've downloaded the Java Runtime 1.2 (JRE 1.2). If not, go to www.javasoft.com or
http://gu.campaigncreations.com/files.shtml to get it.

Install that.

Now double-click the GUEdit.jar file.

A menu will appear. (Version of appearance)

i have the java program. I can't find javaw on the immediate list. Do you know where it might be in C: so i can browse for it?

If you can't find 'jawav' in the program list, it shud be located in C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.1_01\bin\jawav.exe.

if that isnt where you installed it then try going to start, search, for files or folders, type in jawav.exe in the field titled "search for files or folders named:" you might also have another program or a bug where its not locating jawav.exe even though you have it installed sometimes you have to define it for it so that it will run... just double click it and when it says run with this program find jawav.exe (make sure you have always open with this checked).

i did all that and it isn't working for me. I got the old icon back, so i though it might of worked. But i click on it and get the hourglass mouse icon then nothing happens.

im having a weird problem with it also, it worked fine the very first time i used it then it takes a while to load up and..... when i try to load a map it does absolutely nothing....ive reinstalled it and changed pcs its on both are ME does the exact same....
