You're probably putting the -direct -txt inside the quotation marks like so:
"C:\Program Files\Diablo II\Diablo II.exe -direct -txt -skiptobnet"
which is wrong because windows thinks that it is part of the path.
do it outside the quotes like this:
"C:\Program Files\Diablo II\Diablo II.exe" -direct -txt -skiptobnet
This should solve your problem.
