Alright it started as a small argument between me and this one guy. I had a Necromancer and this other guy was bitching:He said he didn't want to play a game with "The Dead" in it. I counter saying Necromancer's are not dead, and that they infact are human.

Well regardless he kept disagreeing, and neither of us had a RoC manual to check.

The question is: Are Necromancer's dead?
(I know there from the Undead Race, but are they actually dead?)

They are dead. They are like fallen mages or something.

Why would he buy warcraft if he doesn't want to play a game with the dead in it? I suppose magical elves and orcs are alright though... because they're more realistic than dead people (well, maybe the *living* dead people in warcraft). The book doesn't say but I hope they are dead, or that "I love the dead... frequently" scares me.

Though they retained their Humanity after making a pact with death, Necromancers became the most terrifying agents of the Scourge. These dark, insidious men were once thought to be aspiring geniuses by the Magocracy of Dalaran. However, their insatiable lust to delve into the secrets of the dark arts drove them to forsake their very souls. Ner'zhul, the Lich King, granted these malevolent sorcerers true power over the dead in exchange for their loyalty and obedience. The shadowy Necromancers have the power to command various types of Undead and even spread the foul undead plague as well.
I just found that from Blizzard.

They are indeed human.

DK's are not undead. DK's, Acolytes, and Necros are the only non-undead non-monster/mechanical/demon units in the UD army.

Theroy, stop being an idiot, it that's possible. Blizzard has always said fun/balance>perfect following of plot/in-game setups.

You don't think UD are balanced. Blizzard disagrees. Blizzard>you. In conclusion, shut the hell up.

haha, necromancers should be able to tear the skeleton out of the living using a channeling spell or something like that in the next patch. Or have full mana to cast, so suddenly half your army gets ripped in half :)

They were once people trained in the arts of magic (Kirin Tor and stuff). They died but kept thier humanity upon accepting death, thus becoming necromancers with thier powers. More information on Battle.net strategy or your manual for RoC

I am amazed how they can revive 2 skeletons from 1 CORPSE :p
