My new PvP Paladin (Help Requested)

Greetings all,


I am currently building a Chargedin for PVP purposes. I have his gear and his skills planned already, but I am kinda at a loss for a good secondary ability for him.

Here is a list of his skills and gear:

20 Charge
20 Might
20 Vigor
20 Fanatacism
1 To Prereqs

This is where I am kinda curious. I was thinking of several different back up abilities, but I am not sure which to go for.

I could put 20 into Smite and have a nice damage stun for low mana.

I could put 20 in FoH and 2 into Holy Bolt for a moderate damage FoH, but I think FoH is cheesy in duels. I hate Paladins that use it on me, so I dont want to use it on others.

I could put a balance of 12 points in Zeal and Sacrafice to make it nice AR and nice DMG, but Zeal in duels is kinda iffy.

This is the gear he will have in the end:

Helm: Shako or CoA
Shield: HoZ
Weapon: 397% ETH BoTD Zerker (6BO CTA on Switch, Demon Limb in Stash)
Ring1: 5% BK
Ring2: Perf Raven (Maybe another 5% BK and Cham Helm)
Belt: Perf Verdungos
Boots: Gore Riders
Gloves: Steelrends (hopefully perfs)
Ammy: Highlords
Charms: Combo of FHR, Vita and Anni

Any help and suggestions would be most appreciated, on gear or skills.

P.S. Yes I have read through numerous posts and I still don't feel like I found my answers, so please don't flame me for another "Skills/Gear Post."

P.P.S. If I did the Smite ability, it would leave me with 5 skill points that I was thinking of putting into Holy Shield, even though there is the charge bug... I figure I can either use it sparringly or just get used to using the weapon switch really fast.

anyways jus remember, have 96% FHR for 2nd highest frame (thats what i think it is.. if not, it should be 86%)

i think you should smite + Holy Shield... and here is your tactics:

charge
smite
charge
smite
charge
etc

get it? hit em, knock em back, charge back in, knock back again, charge back in again... but i hope you can change quick keys decently

Yea, I think this build will be rock solid.... my only concern is taking the time to level him up and choosing a a secondary ability that won't compliment him well.

I dont know what the range is on smite, as I know the range on Zeal is based off the weapon you are using. In my case it will be range 3, which is ok, but not great.

Right now I am basically torn between smite and zeal.

zeal = 5 fast hits, gets enemy to do head banging
smite = stuns.

i would say zeal, its more worth it.

In PvP, zeal wont help much.

If I understand correctly, if you use Zeal and the first attack misses, each attack after it will miss too. That is about my only concern with Zeal.

My only reservation with Smite is that I have never seen it in use during PVP so I don't know how well it would work.

no u dont get it do u? have u ever saw charge/zealdin? they pwn! get ignore target item (botd i think) or -25% def item.

or u can try smite din, they work well too.

The only PVP Paladin that I have seen use Zeal got his ass stomped several times. He had moderate gear though and it was probably a bad build. He couldn't hit much with his Zeal but his charge was good.

and i saw charge/zeal owning, it was quite fun watching

Now I have 2 more questions.

1) If I went with Zeal as a back up, and charge being my primary attack, should I bother with Holy Shield at all?

2) Which shield would be better, Exile in a resist shield or HOZ... I am trying to weigh the pros and cons of each and they are neck and neck.

yes retard u need holy shield put 1 point into it at least or it will be a crappy build.

anyways learn holy shield if u can bear with cahrge bug. if not, dont.

If ur not gonna use holy shield then get an exile shield. U need the defiance aura to get ur def up otherwise it will be crap.

If you're mainly chargedin, I would choose concentration over fanatacism. If you get hit while charging, you're screwd but with concentration you get almost as much damage but you dont get interupted mid-charge as often. I also suggest holy shield and hoz because you only need like 125 dex to get max block and if you are dueling other melee you will never get hit. The charge bug isn't that big of a deal.
