My latest map plan would be to use an immense full size map, to make a game that reuses areas constantly. The game wouldn't be your average rpg, you do a quest and win or lose, go on to the next quest etc.. In this if you didn't complete a quest that would be fine, you could go do soemthing else, do the quest again, or just not do it.

As you travelled trhough the 4 lands many things would happen, for example, if say, an evil sorceror attacked a small town with his army of zombies and undead, you would have a choice, let him destory the town while you join him to take over the world, or destroy him and help the town. This way the map would be interactive with the player, letting them choose their fate.

The 4 areas:

1. The first area (un-named) would be mostly mountains, tunnels, caves and that sort of things, this area would be home to the strongest kind of people, dwarves.

2. The second area of the map would be more foresty, surrounded by rivers, it would be the home of the elves.

3. The third, and maybe combined with the fourth area, would be mostly large plains, small forests dotting the landscape, and castles/towns every so often, this part would be the most interactive with the player, as making decisions in this area would determine your fate.

The 4 areas would be seperated by rivers, mountains, and open forests, when you travel between the areas, the game would pause for a moment while it set everything up. Also, there would be animals, and enemies would become stronger throughout the game as you progressed, if you were a level 10 warlock, your enemies might become lvl 2 zombies, which would be stronger.

Im not sure if im going to take on making this map, but since my computers both have a tendency to crash tehse days, i wanted to make sure i didn't lose this idea. Any tips?

QUESTS!! lol, i can't finish the terrain until i have quests galore.

Current storyline:

The lands of Aernoth are in turmoil, fighting has gone on for years and years, but now, a group of peasents want to restore the peace that once covered the lands. But the dwarves, elves, and knights do not agree with how to make this peace happen. The dwarves want to control all the mines, the elves the forests, and the knights the plains, but all the ore and gold is under the plains, to make more plains for the humans, they must cut down the elves forests, which would force the elves to move to the mountains, forcing the dwarves out. But this is not what they want at all, so they continue fighting for their land.
After many years, you and a group of other peasents have finally gotten the money to travel to each land, and ask for help, but as you travel, a shadow of fear is cast across the land. The human, elf, and dwarven kings are returning from the turmoil to their homes, presuading them will be difficult, but it is your only hope to live in peace.

Quests:

Elves:
1. Save the forest from being burned by the knights
2. Stop the dwarves from destroying the forests

Dwarves:
1.Find the gold that is laid under the land in the knights territory
2. Remove the curse taht was laid on the dwarven mines by killing the elven priest.

Humans:
1. Clear the plains of all the worthless peasants
2. Destroy the trees in the forests of the elves

Farmers (this will help your social value towards 1 race):
For elves: plant trees in the plains of the knights
For Knights: find the stolen gold that was taken by the dwarves
For Dwarves: go into the elven territory, and retrieve the plans to the elven fortress so they can take the plans and attack them.

From those 9 quests, the game will create itself as you go, making up a story as the game goes on.

sounds sweet. So you have to chose which race you are going to help? If so, I like it. RPGs are so much better when it can be different every time.

Yeah, as you go through the game you choose which race you are going to aid, and towards the end, the game just ends completely in turmoil, I'll probably make anohter version after taht
