My fave DotA characters are (in no real order):
Silencer
Soul Keeper
Skeleton King
I'm better at destroying towers and pushing rather than killing other heroes.
Strategies:
Silencer:
No real strategy but I do use his giant rock dudes to destroy towers when the meteors hit and when I'm Silencer I'm usually at everyone else's level so he may not be the best but he can do well with the proper player.
Soul Keeper:
Probably my fave hero. He can drain health from creeps when he's weak, and he's great for killing other heroes and sometimes destroying towers. The most obvious thing to do with him is to first metamorphosize, then conjure image so that you and your clone attack the guy and if you're about to die, you use Sunder which is pure ownage.
Skeleton King:
An ownage character and some would call him cheap. Most ignorant people would buy divine rapier which is all well and good if you can wait 2 hours until you have enough but in the beginning it's best to buy (besides boots of tread) the Mask of Death and then upgrade it to the Mask of Madness. When you have this, it's simply a matter of ambushing a hero, stunning them, using the mask of madness and watching your king kill them before they can run away.
So those are mine.
