My complaints about the currency system

Yes.. 290s. We all love to hate em. It seems that they are the big thing as of late, and nobody will trade for items like they are supposed to.. just 290s.

I find it ridiculous that the games entire economy is based around a duped charm.

Recently, i have been looking for enigma. I offered items worth many more "290s" than what they were asking-yet got a no. D2 is very unfriendly to those who do not have good items, yet it is nearly impossible for most to attain high rune words.

Furthermore, it seems that those who have these retarded charms don't want to let go of them. Great economy we've gotten ourselves into, eh?

Let me ask you this- since melee is basically screwed now, why is the D2 economy still based on a charm that's melee?

well...as much as i also hate the system, i find that theres no use fighting it...u cant expect to change the economy with the snap of a finger. there are still some ppl who trade for regular items, and thats who i look for.

I think u mean non-ladder currency. I play on Europe ladder and non-ladder and i rarely see any 290s offers, som 3/20/20 still but tho very small. I am shocked by the value of runes on Europe Ladder gosh ppl so many of them are duped maybe not the lower but the highest (been scammed a couple of times bought duped runes *omg*), the whole game trading engine sucks there should be sthing like money but availible to get to new or poor players gosh it's like so hard for them to get good items without the help of their friends :/

Yes, but this time it should delete ALL Runes not in items, and ALL dupes. All Rares with the same name should be deleted, good or bad.

You gotta fight the system, even if its just one post on a website, it all adds up and makes a difference.

Personally, though, I like the currency. Doesn't matter if its a useless or duped item---what do you think money is? It's easier to trade for currency, then use that currency to buy other stuff. It allows things to have set prices, and that helps noobs like me from being ripped off.

uswest ladder doesnt trade by 290's its always about the god damn mother ****ing runes i mean wtf comon THEY ARE RUNES runes are plain gay and so are the cheap ass runewords esspecially the enigma although i wouldent mind haveing 1 there just plainly ****ing gay, i think uniqe or set items should be better than a rune word dont ya think?

Well i have a few comments to add to various posts on this topic.

1) The reason runewords are so wanted...Ever hear of fads? Everyone is thinking, "OMG its new, +2 to skills, WOW godly, i need one" In a while people wont have these on demand. Valor has +2 to skills. Only difference basically is the +1 to tele, whoopti do!

2)having currency is extremly important. I have an economics class that im taking, things we learn relate so well to the D2 market community it is not even funny. So we complain that a currency of 290's is bad...Well, when sojs were the currency, that is all people wanted, they wanted to sell their items for sojs, and buy items with sojs. So it would be easyer to trade your items for the 290's now and trade the newly gathored 290's for the items you would like. The reason an economy needs an astablished set price is it saves dramatic time on finding/buying items you need

3) As you can see, Sojs are starting to come back into peoples need. A vast majority were spent at venders to get D-Clone. A pretty clever way by blizz to get rid of all the duped sojs wouldnt you say?

Just to say somthing before i get flamed for talking bad about the runewords. Its not that they are bad or anything, but whenever somthing new comes out, everyone wants it. The price for them will go up when the scarcity runs out.

Supply and Demand people, supply and demand...God economics class is great! ROFLMAO!

290's on ladder are extremely rare to get so you can actually trade items.

Good point about the SoJ currency.

From 1.08 on its been SoJ's-3/20/20's-290's as currency lists and it is hard to find someone who wouldn't want items. I do it all the time and sorry Wildfire but I did rake you over the coals for the Tal set .

What I would say is that I traded a Jah rune for 3 290's and its the only 3 I got. I got lucky and nabbed it up during a Baal Run. I got pked for it too.

But I've done the same thing with people, offering them an amount of items in 290's that far outway's what they actually want in the currency and they call me a noob and leave.

As for RuneWords, I hate them with a passion. My brother got a Jah on a hellforge quest and I got a Ber so we did make Enigma. But we only got that b/c we did quests for old .08 chars that we didn't do b/c it was a worthless quest.

But I hate dueling an BoneNecro with Enigma using the Marrowwalk's bug. I hate dueling a Barb with Enigma and BoTD and a full zealadin with BoTD.

I can deal with most others, except godly sorcs with beast and their armor just ****s you over.

But runewords are only a craze and it won't stop til another patch comes out or a rust storm . Which is what I'm begging for even though I know I'll probably lose items from it b/c I traded for them. But I think its necessary for equality in the realms.

And yes Ladder was a nice way out but for the average Diablo player starting completely clean isn't fun. I maybe get an hr a day to play, between work and college and g/f and family. If I went to ladder when it first started I might now have a decent char, but it wouldn't be easy. And with the rune dupes that have gone through at least the USEast Ladder realms is ridiculous. To see how many Ebay ladder item auctions and then sites is sad.

You know that many people are ebaying and/or buying from sites most of their rune worded items. It makes dueling with a non-runeworded character impossible in some instances. But I always usually trade item for item so if you guys need something PM me or post to me about a trade or my account is: Middle_Earth -the one I'm most on.
