It sounds cool, and I'll probably get it, but I think that's enough of FF7 already :/ There's going to be Advent Children as well as this new game....I think we need a good (i.e. not X-2) spinoff/sequel of one of the other Final Fantasy games.

Exactly! There's just not enough FF8 appreciation :/

FF8 > FF7.

But Vincent was my favorite character. If it's real I'll buy it and hope it turns out good.

By the way, has anyone played Ehrgeiz? I had some fun times with that game.

What fun, more remakes to classic Final Fantasy games. Keep this up and we will be at Final Fantasy 23 before we croak. Its never final either lol.

I too liked FF8 more then 7. I don't know why, but I just liked the way it worked, and how you got new weapons, battles, etc. I'd like to see a cool spinoff of 8, or possibly a Super Nintendo FF, such as 6.

First off, FF8 sucked. FF6>all others, cept maybe Tactics (the PS version). Second, it's called "Final Fantasy" because back when they first made the origional, it was squares last game before they were going to shut down. It prospered hugely, and now look at it. Third, I hope this game is a DMC remake basically (same style of game, same controls and gameplay) -- That would own. Vincent is one of the top on my "badass" list, next to Albel from SO3 and Dias from SO2.

FF8 will never get any credit (it doesn't deserve shit IMHO) because it's storyline is SO similar to FF7's. FF8 was also a very crappy game both graphic and gameplay wise (getting to 99 before you even get outta the first SeeD place...come on, what were they thinking) -- Square tried to hard to make FF8 an instant hit, like its predicessor FF7, and they failed. But god, don't label me as a fanboy thinking FF7 is the best, because in reality, (in my reality) FFt/FF6>FF5>FF2>FF7>FF10>FF9>FF8>FFTA

I wish FFT was a little longer, I for one enjoyed it. Going into the Deep Dungeon and facing odd combos of monsters and humans was fun. One floor you could face 16 Goblins (10 lvls greater then you), to even those little mog things (END after you beat Serpentarius).

For me It's FF4>FF6>FF5>FF8>FF7. I enjoyed 4 MCUH more then 3, it had better music, and it was harder. Final Fantasy 6 is EASY. Possibly the easiest one. Cast Vanish on a boss, then cast Doom. Instant death. And even then It's still easy after the first time through, atleast for me it was. Don't get me wrong, FF6 was possibly the best FF for SNES, but I just like 4 better. however, Chrono Trigger > all of those if you ask me. :)

I liked the first half or so of final fantasy 9 but then it went downhill. FF8 was the first one I played and it was alright but some parts got extremely boring, and a long way to run without any save points. I barely played FF7 and it wasn't too great. I bought it for playstation and sold it at the same time I sold my PS1, I don't remember if i made it off the first disc because some parts were so boring. FF7 was pretty cool though in the battle system, I liked that one better than the other Final Fantasies.

How was the story similar? FF7 = big meteor blah blah blah boredom. FF8 = sorceress from future coming back and controlling other sorcerers, save world.

FF8 was also a very crappy game both graphic and gameplay wise (getting to 99 before you even get outta the first SeeD place...come on, what were they thinking)
Heh, the CG pwned FF7's, and the ingame graphics were far superior. How would FF7 be considered better? Because it came out first? Yea right. 99 in the training garden? Hmm, don't know what you were fighting but the monsters never gave very good exp in there.

But god, don't label me as a fanboy thinking FF7 is the best, because in reality, (in my reality) FFt/FF6>FF5>FF2>FF7>FF10>FF9>FF8>FFTA
I do not see how FF9 > FF8. FF9 was fun but nothing compared to the gameplay style of FF8.

I too liked FF8 more then 7. I don't know why, but I just liked the way it worked, and how you got new weapons, battles, etc.
I agree, I think the Junction System was very fun and cool to use. Materia just seemed kind of dumb.

I'd like to see a cool spinoff of 8
So would I. What's with all this 7 shit? Sure, it looks good, but enough already. The game is too ****ing old, move on to something a little newer. God.

FF7's main character was an eX-Solider, who was very to himself. His love (Aeris) died by Sephiroth (who, is one of his previous mentors/Solider Friends)

FF8's main character was in SeeD, who was also very to himself. His love (Rinoa) almost died by Seifer (who, is one of his previous Seed friends)

The main points might not be the same (IE the sorceress comming back VS the Meteor) but there are tons and tons of things that are close enough to compare the two storylines, and say that basically, FF8 was a ripoff of FF7 with some minor alterations.

99 in the training garden was simple. Just get the Death magic off the TRex in there, junction it into your weapon, or just cast it on him, and he dies. Pretty much a level per kill... Do that for about 2 hours and Squall and Quistis are 99 before you even leave the place.

Oh come on, all of the Final Fantasy games are pretty similar. The main character is some guy who's usually some sort of loner/outcast who falls in love with a female main character but something goes wrong, usually she likes someone else at first or she dies (or is going to die). The main character has an enemy who is connected to him in some way. You are always trying to save the world. Of course they all have similarities, they'll all parts of the same series made by the same company. The stories are all different and unrelated, though, which is what makes them interesting. So you don't really have a valid point :/

I loved the junction system because it was so easily customizable once you understood it. It was complex enough to hold my interest. Materia was frustratingly simple.

FF8 had 2 major flaws. Junctioning, and GF learned abilities. Those made the game way too hard, and are the worst crutch I've seen this side of FFV. The game was no challenge, and had a lack-luster storyline. The whole sorceress trying to control the world thing woulda been cool if it hadnt totally been drowned in a sappy love story. FF7 was better in all ways other than graphics, because it came out when PSX was still new and developers didn't know what limits they could push.

It's not hard. It's actually very simple. You learn the ability and Junction magic to attack, HP, Defense, Elemental Defense, Status Defense etc. And there were tutorials on it, lol.

i actually beat the game before ANY of my characters hit 50...and one of my main characters for beating the game was only at like level 15...i found ff8 TOO easy. ff7...the last boss can be challenging, VERY challenging, the way limits worked was great, storyline was pretty good, but what i hate about final fantasy games in general is the character development. sephiroth could have used some more character development, his motive is that he wants jenova(sp?) to take over the world...why would he do this? because he read books in nimbelheim(sp?) well i think that they didnt explain that much for him. Vincent...you really had to work to find out his background, and even then it was weak. tifa, i really dont know too much except her and cloud were family friends. barret, he probably had among the best character development of the game. red xiii(i think) was OK character development but i never liked his character in general. cait sith...could use more character development. yuffie was a FAIR character. Aeris...among the best character development, but still not enough. Cid was ok character development, i liked his character but he could use improvements. Cloud...obviously should have the best character and he did...but there are some things he did in-game that made me wonder...WTF!?!?

now, thats just ff7. IMO ff7 has adequate character development.

ff8 had poor character development, but most of the game was good except it was far too easy.

ff9 characters had awesome character development up untill late 3rd disk...why doesnt anyone have ANYTHING special to do? thats my wonder...

now a game you should pick up (made by square) is xenogears.(Not xenosaga) this game has BRILLIANT character development, one character has pathetic character development(rico if u wanted to know) but other than that, the game is just brilliant because you learn a LOT about most of the characters(Minus 1) and then there was a manga that went along with the game...xenogears is among the best rpgs(if not the best) ever made.

outside of square...capcom's BOF series is so so in terms of character dev...chronotrigger...brilliant character development on the most part, they did a good job.
