The problem with MMOs is mostly its the electronic aspect of the game.

I could argue that WoW in fact sucks, but some people do play it and enjoy it. But then there is this concept I dislike, but Mike has shed some light on it to me a while back.

Its the whole "Pay to Play" thing. Sure you are spending a minor fee per month to play, but then after 2 years, you realize how much you spent... regardless of how much fun you had with it and how much you enjoyed with others over 2 years.

Plus, most MMOs are RPGs. I have had friends be total selfish and boastful buttpricks. There would be arguments, quarrels, and tempers flying, over some minor crap like a game.

Other than that, I have no real reason to hate a game like WoW, or MMORPGs for that matter. Laharl dislikes it for far, illogical reasons in my opinion.

When you do it on pen and paper, at least you are with friends you trust, or complete strangers. The only reason you would get yelled at is for making a dumb move or something along the lines.

I played WoW on my original account from ~1.2 till 2.3. Roughly three years. At 15$ a month it was still only $540 total on the fees, and I'll go with 60$ total for the game and expansion (got the game on ebay like two months after it came out for 20$ while they were still sold out everywhere), so lets say I spent 600$ total on it. I sold that account for 500$ without much hassle. So that left me with 100$ that I spent over a 3 year period of time, on something that I would spend more than 12 hours a day on sometimes, and at least 40 hours a week on.

You do the math for how much money I was 'spending' an hour playing that game and then come to me and go "its too much money paying 15 a month is stupid!". Expecially for a game that's as well organized and polished as WoW is.

Re: Official D&D group?

I never said it was expensive.

Yeah, thats why I was convinced that there was some good in pooling money into MMOs. Plus, you had gained some profit into selling an account to some unlucky sucker. And teh 100 you easily made back with 2 days of working.

However, I see money devoted to gaming a little differently than you do. I am more of a One pay, thats it person. The exception, is the internet costs, which is mandatory for me.

Plus, I am just not a fan of an MMO. Even though the concept of it is pretty decent.

Also, WoW is riddled with bugs like mad. And Blizzard is too apathetic towards people who suffer from them.

B-quality content, generic gameplay, and the lack of originality or consistency within the world makes for a really bad game.
