MF'ing orb sorc?

I was jsut wondering.. i keep hearing all this stuff about MF orb sorcs doing
4-5k damage.. is that even possible? 20 orb+bolt with decent eq still only puts you around 400-600 dmg.. (aprox.) even with +skill items and _skill GC's it still doesnt seem possible to reach thast much damage (or even close) plus to have a few hundred MF would take away from +skill items..

So are these people that talking nonsense or is it actually possible and how?
im tired of my lvl 75 orb sorc having a hard time solo'ing NM doing only 4-500 dmg.

Well, when the orb detonates right on an enemy, the damage could be 4-5k since the enemy's life goes down a good mqargin when that happens. Each icespike does 400-600 damage, so it could probably do more if they were referring to the orb's detonation factor.

you can always socket all ur items with those rainbow facets....

they give minus enemy resistances....

i forgot but some guy on this forum, went by the name viz or something the other, made a really strong sorc ( i think) and its due to rainbow facets, good plus skill gear, perhaps eschutas... dunno but something like that.

occy on orb sorc isnt what you want (unless you're going for mf..) otherwise get fathoms..then maybe stick an ist in? so you have 20+% cold skill dmg and 30 mf

My Orber just got done last night. 4 Cold GCs anni in the inventory. Armor was perfect dusk CoH. Helm was 14% nightwing (19 with facet in ). Weapon was 21% fathom (26% with facet in ). shield was spirit. ammy was maras. rings were both sojs. boots were travs. gloves were magefists. and belt was arachs. Overall she does a whopping 1.2k orb.

I think maximum orb dmg is around 1,5k but its each spike that come out, so it hurt alot.

I personally dont see how an orb sorc could be an effective MFer unless u are loaded.
(facets & runes ect...)

Blizzard is a much more effective skill overall (PvM & PvP).

they're right, with the best gear in the game and an inventory packed with cold gc's, pfathom with pfacet pnw with pfacet and spirit pormus +blizz with pfacet you get around 1.5k but also you're lowering enemy cold resistance by a bit so the orb REALLY hits, and since most spikes hit an enemy if the orb passes through them, multiply that by 5-10 if orb goes right through them.

Also an Orb build can max Blast and all its synergies making Blast do much more dmg than possible in a blizz build, I like this because Blast is a very good skill to use while Orb is cooling down, especially against single powerful enemies such as Baal.

As far as orb sorc being a good MFer, its more than possible since ive gathered that you only need 400-500 MF, and on weapon switch my orb sorc with NONE of her "mf" gear on (all good gear) has 375+ so if I put a few smfc's or used chances instead of magefist etc you could easily get some good MF going and still kick ass. You just need a godly merc to take care of those cold immunes.

orbers were the mfers in 09 and in 10, blizz sorcs are the mfers. its because they get good damage. orb used to be the mfers skill due to occy rings. since those are gone, orbs cant get to like 3k anymore. if you mf'd with orb you would need good mf gear and with good mf gear you wont really have a high orb dmg. people only get the orb dmg that high for pvp. like myself i only use my orber for pvp and she rapes everyone.
