hey guys. I am becoming more and more curious since i'm getting deep in D2.

i have a lvl 87 sorc (lightning). She's wearing full Tal's wrapping. it's becoming confusing to me about the % in chances of finding Magic items. They tell me (friends) that i need about 350%+ to find nice items in hell.

Since she is wearing a full tal's wrapping, i came across these questions:

armor gives 65% chance/ belt/ lid/ hodradic crest (mask) and the ammy. Does it all adds up? so basically i have 5 items * 65% = 325%??? or since it is a set it could only be 65%??

and if i were to wear my shako/ occy / tal's helmet/ ammy/ belt and chance guards chain gloves which gives +33 will all that add up?

shako = 50%
tal's armor = 65%
tal's belt= 65%
ta'ls ammy= 65%
gloves = 33%
occy= 50%

adding to 328%? or will it only be

Shako =50%
Tal's armor= 65%
tal's belt= 0%
tal's ammy=0
gloves=33%
occy=50%

adding to 198%?

please help.

what are good items to wear that i could raise my chances? what are some charms and rings i could use also?

Tal's armor= 112% when you ptopaz it
tal's belt= 15%
tal's ammy=0%
gloves=33%
occy=50%

+65% from the set

Common sense should have told you the 65% doesnt count on all the tals items. Just like the 3+ skills wouldnt be per item if you got the complete set

add soem small 4-7 mf charms to your inv, preferably with life to boost your mf

but the set bonus are only counted once

Using Tal Set is good for mfing cause u can max out ur resis ez in hell. It also help u survive in hell cause u do need to max out ur resis for boss. But remember, u also need mf gear for ur merc and it will add ur mf in total. I have total of 1,039 mf using full tal sorc (fire) + merc mf. I think other suck in hell. When u do meph in hell, static him and the attack him. Ill kill him least than a minute after static.

and to answer your question about needing 350+ mf to find nice items isnt true, you just have a better chance of finding them

always remember luck is the most important factor

also with the merc you are talking about, his mf only adds in when he gets the killing blow

Well, it is better to have some mf on merc than have 0% on him. He always gets the kill when it immue to fire.

I wear full tals too, just because of the resists... i get enough mf...

you want your merc to be more durable than anything, especially as a sorc
you can always tele away from fire immunes, but you dont want monsters tearing through him then either killing you or you tele away anyway and have to cough up 50,000 gold
