Merc Woes

Does anyone else wish they had left Mercs alone in 1.11? My lvl 79 NM act 2 offensive merc only has 177 str. Bonehew req 195. BLEH. he'd have to be lvl 97 to wield it as he only gets 1 str per lvl

Wish I could still go back to NM and get the lil lvl 20-30ish merc like before and level em up!

i remember that it was very easy to level mercs, i guess you should use some armor or hat that adds 20 strength or add 20 altogether. i dont know i havent noticed any changes on my merc but he is pretty good. so maybe it just depends on what you use.

I have 0 problems with my merc, hes level 87 now and ive been using basic cheap runeword armor on him up until lately.

His first armor was my stealth when I made enlightenment.

Now he wears a 1000+ defense ethereal smoke dusk shroud (real low req's)
For headgear I have a 400+ defense ethereal bone helm with delirium in it.
And he has had the same weapon for forever, its just a reapers toll (unique thresher) I love the %chance to cast decrep on striking. Phys immunes are no problem with him around. I am a meteor sorc and he is able to take out anything I can't in hell with little problem.

He also has no problems surviving in hell cows with 4-5 other characters in game.

(Delirium helps in big crowds alot too, but he can take and dish out an insane amount of punishment)

i use a barb merc ... works fine with me, hes weilding a ebotdcb and eth 3800 glitch stone and a eth zoded areats and with my pallys aura (fanat) hes awsome

hmm we need a show off your merc thread, that would be fun but yes they need to rethink mercs again, because mercs u raise urself are better then ones that u get at higher levels.

@CCCP, the thing that they changed about mercs is that now you have to buy them like, at your level... so buying a nm merc is just like a hell merc, except for the aura. The problem with this is that your merc is better if you level him yourself instead buying him at a high level.

i have no problems with my merc hes a lvl 91 act ii defensive merc, i got when i was around lvl 30 and raised him from a baby. he has like 240 strength now and wears durial shell, darksight helm (to keep from freezing) and an obiedience cryptic axe, he does like 1300 - 2700 damage and kicks ass. btwn my lvl 91 ww/frenzy barb,clay golem and him we can do anything in hell. i think if your going to get a merc get him early around lvl 20-30, or when ever u get to nm act 2 and just build him up.

You just need to buy a merc when you're like level 30 or 40 or whatever then let him die and then level up and then res your merc and level him up from there.
