Meph Moat Trick

Can someone tell me what it is? Because If it will help me kill meph's ass...

It's where you get Mephisto's attention and stand behind the moat of blood, just far enough so you can hit him but he can't hit you. Usually done on the left moat (near all the ghoul lords). Hope that helps.
