Ok, I have a Dell Dimension Desktop 2400, and a whole bunch of hardware, but I can't build my new computer yet due to lack of funding. I've decided to try and play EQ on my computer. My question is, I have 2 sticks of 512 mb sticks of Geil pc3200 ram. Can I put it into my Dell without having to mess with anything? Just take out my old stuff, pop this stuff in, and i'm done? Also, what does the little cord with the yellow, red, and 2 black wires do that came with my ram? It didn't come with any instructions. It has a black end and a clear end. The clear end has 4 pins, and the black end looks like, well I don't know how to explain it.

well, the cord with the yellow, red, and 2 black wires is a molex connector (its for power from a PSU, yellow =12 v, red = 5v, black=ground), not sure what is it for, is there a fan on it? It will work if your motherboard supports the DDR ram, but it may not run at full speed. Basicly, open the case, and see if it fits in the slots, if it does, you got 1 gig of ram in your pc, if it doesnt, then, well you got stock :p

yes you can put it in but make sure you take out the old ones first and make sure you put the memory in dual channel if your motherboard supports it. as for teh molex connector/ATX cable, it doesnt have anything directly to do with RAM...
