Meltdown!

ok the other day one kid in my computer class put one of the wires into the wrong spot on the motherboard. So he turns on the computer and it starts to run normally, but then it starts to smell really weird. When they looked the wire was melting lol. So has anything like this happened to anyone here? Or have you seen something funny with computers?

It was a couple weeks after I had bought my new Geforce 4 Ti4200 graphics card (15 days actually, one day past warranty), and I was playing Starcraft. While I was playing, the whole screen got all garbled up and the computer froze and I had to restart the whole system. I restarted it, started playing Starcraft again, but then the same thing happened. I restarted the computer again, then something started to REALLY reek. After that, my computer wouldn't start. It booted to the BSOD a few times. It turned out my graphics card had fried (playing Starcraft... WTF?!) and completely wiped out my hard drive in the process.
