Melee Sorc?

Ok, before anyone starts poking fun at the idea, please think about this.. it's been done, and if it's done right it can kill BOTD barbs.

Here are my current plans:
-Max enchant (this is what's gonna give me the big damage!)
-Max warmth (synergy to my enchant)
-Max energy shield
-Max Telekenesis (synergy to the shield)
-Max one of the cold armours

Gear:
Here's where I need your help- many melee sorcs use beast for the obvious reason that they can turn into a hugeass bear. However, some use passion. IMO this runeword is cheap to make and perfect for this build. This is what i plan on doing. The +1 to zeal is great... i'm currenty searching the cow levels for a zerker to put it on or anything else good i come across.

I need help determining the rest of the gear. I know i'll be using shako. Other than that, I need help deciding what kinda of freaky caster/melee gear mix i'lll be wearing! (delerium in stash for some fun heh.)

Melee Sorcs are nice. My friend has one that's a Tank Sorc, It owns. Orb as secondary rushing skill is also nice if you ask me.

Well, this sorc wouldn't need to do very much PVM

It's more of a melee duel char to compete with barbs and pallies, so orb won't matter much to be anyways.

Thistle, with zeal and 10k enchant damage, it's hard to not try it. If they aren't meant for melee, let's have a duel when i'm done. Who cares what they're "made for". With that kind of massive damage, I think that it is fairly practical.

Anyways, any suggestions for gear? Im thinking of borriwing a COH from a friend, using the passion, delerium for fun (shako for harder duels), stormshield w/ max block (should I -15 it?), gore riders, draculs, etc..

The other option would be to use things like sojs to boost my enchant damage.

Well, orb to rush and stuff like that. It can help when you need to give your friend a normal rush and the like, you know? Just a suggestion.

Use a metalgrid amulet its good for the melee class

Metal Grid Amulet
+400-450 To Attack Rating (varies)
Level 22 Iron Golem (11 Charges)
Level 12 Iron Maiden (20 Charges)
All Resistances +25-35 (varies)
+300-350 Defense (varies)

Its also good in melee with bowzons. The Golems will attack the seeking arrows

I've always liked the idea of this build, but I have a few questions and suggestions... does d/r% work before or after energy shield... obviously resists don't, so any non melee char using elemental damage could just OWN you. Still, it sounds like a fun build... maybe get a +3 enchant ormus for precasting, use fire facets?

I'm still leveling this sorc but unfortunately gear restrictions are hitting me hard.

You mentioned a ranged barb; I saw a guided arrow sorc destroy everyone once, it was cool. I have no idea how.

If you're going for a melee sorc mastery is a definite must.

As far as metalgrid, it is an awsome amulet, only ever found one, and it was maybe 4 months ago. If you can get it or find it it is absolutly amazing the lvl restrict is high, but the mods rule. I found mine on a Hell Pindleskin run.

I have actually seen, a singer,throw jav barb who really was good. As well as a crossbow zealot that rocked, so their is some varients out there. Some are pretty good actually. The funniest had to have been this guy who spent all his points on making a clay golem and its synergies. The necro was so low in skills it actually has fought with poison dagger, that did like maybe 50 damage lol. As far as the guided arrow sorc, a friend of mine has one with 25 to enchant, and the fire mastery skill. Imagine that on a guided arrow :bugeyes ....sweet
