future planes: i live in new zealand right now (unfortunately, its a place with no future and no hope so i have to move out). im going to get my bachelors here and try to get into MIT(masachasets i... technology) for my masters.

there is just one problem. Mechanical engineers dont earn THAT much. they earn decent-high but thats just not enough for me. i understand the best way to get money is to do business.

my question: is it possible to climb to business tree and become a CEO while still being a ME? if not, then is there a way to get rich without lotto, gambling or whatever?

my strong points are maths-science. i dont think ill be anygood with lawyers or awhtever.

My uncles a toolmaker by trade and i did a bit of work exp in that. Basicly the less glamorous way of saying mechanical engineer.. You cant really do both at the same time as theyre both completely different full time job roles, i mean like, you cant manage buisness properly and work there at the same time, its one or the other..

If you really wanted to do both, then i suppose you could get yourself some money and experience in business running, then start small and open your own small workshop machining parts for larger assembly line factories or a bit of toolmakeing. Youre right about getting more money from business though, definitely. Yeah helps if youre good at maths too!

uh, yeah, but how many employees were there working for him.. im not talking about a small 4 employee contractor workshop, you barely have to know anything about buisness studies for that. i mean full blown brand company with a full size factory with different departments that need managing.

No. Business & Communications is pretty much big bucks around here with the positions you can land with Wal-Mart, J.B. Hunt, and Tyson. Figure it's the same anywhere else.

I say get a business degree and call it a day. At worst you can get a managment job at a store, at best you can get a corporate position. Very lucrative imho.

meh. you can become a businessman with basically any freaking degree. You don't need a business degree to start a business, you just need cash and some luck and wits. likewise, same with law school, you can major in anything and become a lawyer as long as your gpa holds out.

if you really want to take the academic route to get there, and really aren't sure what the **** you want to do, the major that seems to give the most "options" if you do well is definitely

biochemical engineering. if you major in this and do really well (e.g. 3.7+ GPA plus high ass scores on those tests GRE, MCAT, LSAT, whatever they are called). then you're set. any professional school would want you. they won't even give 2 ****s you didn't have "extra curriculars" like "research" etc.

Hell, double major and maybe add some "electrical engineering" or if your truly interested in business, economics. Minor in accoutning or some random **** like asian studies or w/e. maintain the same GPA, finish in 4 years (you'll probably require more time, summer school?) and you'll really improve whatever advanced degree program at any school you wish.

by the way, if you take this advice, life will be hard BUT, the hard work in maintaining a 3.7 in biochemical engineering will certainly pay off.

Not everybody goes into the field that they've studied when they go into employment. I'm not in a position to tell you what to do, but as long as you're able to survive in society and knowing how it works, there are ways to climb up the ladder.
