Map Makers Unite!

[I have been making UMS maps for Starcraft and Brood Wars for quite a while now. Sadly, none of them have ever went that far, so I seriously doubt any of you know who I am. Anyway, I am looking to start a group of UMS Map Makers to make the arduous task of Map Making a little easier! If any of you out there with at least a little knowledge of triggers would like to be a part of this new coalition, respond to this message and/or email me at SirBryan45@AOL.com. Sounds interesting, but since most maps are the brainchild, as well as the creation of the maker, how could a group make things easier?

Would it be a thinktank, for exchanging ideas, and knowledge?

Keep us informed, feel free to post here, I for one am inersted, and there are a few here that seem to know there stuff, as well.

As far as html, thats not my area.

I'll join as long as it don't require me to visit a channel in StarCraft frequently. I know almost everything about the Triggers and how they work, I also know how to program my own AI Scripts. I mostly make maps that are long, like RPG's and I can't stand making Golem Maps or any other kind of mass attack map, but I know how to make them so I could still help anyone who is having trouble with triggers. I know some basic HTML, but I won't do the site by myself, if you need any help then you can just ask me.

My friends made a similar clan a while ago. They called it UMS and the home channel was Clan UMS-. Too bad it fell apart the next day when we all got Warcraft III.

To answer your question, CrookedFoot, it IS the idea and creation of the maker, but it always helps to have a few other people doing certain things. For example, if you were doing an RPG, you might have one person do the terrain, one person do the unit editing and placement of units, and yet another person develop the story and place the triggers. This way, you get more than one perspective on the map, and each person gets to add their own little twist to it.

And for CerebralChain's question, I am willing to tutor anyone willing to listen about triggers and whatever.

p.s. About the website: I'm not really concerned about people with basic knowledge of HTML, I don't really need your help unless you know a good amount about HTML. I have my $80 piece-of-crap HTML editor to do all the basic stuff.

I don't know extremly advanced HTML, I couldn't program stuff with it, but I know how to do some stuff like make text follow your mouse and firecrackers.

Well, like I said, I have an HTML editing program that has about 5,000,000 tags and stupid little things like fireworks and crosshairs that follow the mouse.

What I REALLY need is someone who can get some decent Forums and/or a custom chat room. (By custom I mean that its not just a stolen javachat with changed text!)

You said you can program your own AI scripts for SC? That'd be nice to have some custom scripts. I don't really even use editors other then the default Blizzard editor so I have no knowledge of that kinda stuff.

Did I post this on the wrong forum? Should this be on the Clan forum? I know it's only been like 18 hours since I started this, but I am getting really discouraged as noone yet has replied! Oh well, I'm just impatient because I have nothing better to do today then sit here and watch my thread!

try YaBB for a forum pretty decent forum i saw. or try Gamers forums. $80 for Html i just use microsoft frontpage for html needs, but oh well. the site is:

Thanks for the site, but I don't use frontpage because it makes the html incredibly huge and adds unnecesary stuff that makes the download time massive.

As far as weather this is in the right or wrong forum, since I'm still new to being a moderater here, I'm waiting for coRtALoS to give me his opinion.
So far since it seems more like your getting the local map makers opinions as to weather you could get some help, more then ""Join This Awsome Clan"". I'm leaning on it should be ok here, at least for now.

Why don't you get in contact with Skuzzy.
He's the big guy here, maybe he could set you up with a public, or private forum just for the clan you set up.
That way your members could post there to exchange maps or ideas, without having to all be online at the same time in a chat room, or Bnet.
With permission from Skuzzy, maybe a link to these forums on your site.
