when you want to install things dont check easy or recommended install method do custom..
other than that you'll need to move everything and its going to be a huge wreck.
Also if you want there is an option in the control panel for moving where the "my documents" folders are.

That's all true, but you can't "move" all game files by a simple cut / paste action. Those games are in your registry as installed on C. You'll have to de-install them and make a backup of your savegames if possible. Then install on the other drive again.

If you just move everything, then your software just won't work anymore.

And like Gimmi said: custom install from now on. Just be carefull with patching games manually and such, as they will search for your game files on C by default. But you probably already knew that. Never hurts to give to much information, though. :)

Nope, sorry. I tried it once myself, and ended up with a messed up registry. I was stuck with a game being installed according to my software list thingy, although it wasn't working anymore after moving the folders. Took me hours to manually find and remove the registry keys that caused it. Stupid cleaning programs won't find it, as it technically isn't an error. >_<

Maybe we'll finally get an easy way to move software with the next Windows version. Like, Windows 8 about 5 months after 7 has been released. ;)

Just try to install to the right drive the first time. ;)

By the way, there's also something you should know about external drives. If you want to play games from an external drive, make sure that your laptop has an E-SATA port. There could be something newer already, haven't really kept up with these things lately. But whatever. Just buying a drive with a regular usb connection will prove to be to slow. E-SATA is just as fast when it comes to data speeds as an internal drive, so you should be able to play games from it without a problem.

yo man long time no see

just FYI, an external hard drive will function just like your second harddrive does now, youll have to manually navigate to your drive to install games, and you wont be able to just cut and paste your already installed games to it.

actually, itll make things harder, cause not only will you have to treat it the same but youll have to plug it all up everytime too.
