Ok, I wasn't going to post this, but there's to many people these days with poor grammer, and no guides seem to be on Battleforums. So here it goes, I take no credit for this, exept transfering it to Battleforums.

Ok, I realize that we have many people that don't speak english as their primary language, and that is fine.

So, if you're tired of getting bitched at for having shitty grammar, then take a look here and maybe you can learn a few things to save yourself some flames.

Tip one:
Punctuation: Use it.

In case you need enlightenment, punctation includes periods, commas, apostrophees, quotation marks, colons, semi-colons, hyphens, etc.

Punctuation is a must if you want people to understand what you are saying.

Tip two:
Slang: Don't use it.

Slang is commonly used on the internet. Here is a list of slang words, and things you should use in their place.
Code:

Incorrect | Correct

em Them
wuz Was
dem Them
dat That
ya You
ppl People
4 for
aiight alright
gotta have/got to
gonna going to

That list includes, but is not limited to, common slang terms used on the internet. I'm not saying you can't use them, but if you wish to sound intelligent, don't use them.

Tip three:
The friendly "g" key.
People, for some ungodly reason, seem to despise the "g" key.
They seem to think that leaving off the "g" of a word saves them time in typing, or something.
Here's a tip folks: cutting one letter off of a word will not benefit you in any way.

Tip four:
Sentence structure: Help!

I understand that some people don't know formal and propper english, so they mess their sentence structures up, which is perfectly fine. But there is always a select few that end up messing things up and confusing the hell ouf of everyone that they are trying to get a message to.

For example:
Some moron wrote:
You want I should go to house get it?

Translation:

The same moron, after Hooked on phonics wrote:
Do you want me to go to the house and get it?

Tip five:
Signing your name at the bottom of your post: Don't do it.

Alright, we see your name in large bold letters to the left of your post. We also, more than likely, see it in some sort of graphical representation in your sig, and possibly in your avatar, we do not need you signing your name at the bottom of your post. Don't do it, it's simple.

Tip six:
Skin check: You aren't black, don't talk like it.
(Not a racist comment, and even though some of you me be of negro decent, don't type in your ebonics. Easy enough.

Example:
A random white person trying to be black wrote:

Yo peeps waz up fool? im gunna bust a cap, nigga

Solution: Never use the word "nigga."
and
Don't try to be black.

Tip seven:
Proof reading: Do it, you lazy bitches.

If you know you have a problem with anything mentioned above, always re-read everything you post, to make sure that it makes sense. If at all possible use http://www.iespell.com or http://www.dictionary.com ... they will do wonders for you.

That's about it. Here's a recap.

Don't do this:
Some other moron wrote:

sup guyz? im doin aiight here i got a new game 4 my pc itz soooo ****in sweet it got guyz you gotta kill and shiz den you gotta get a key and go thru da door and fight da ****in boss guy hez rlly hard ppl aiigh guyz im out peace yo!

If at all possible, do this:
A more educated moron wrote:

Hey guys, what's up? I'm doing alright here, I got a new game for my computer today, it's so ****ing sweet. It has guys that you have to kill and shit, then you have to get a key, go through the door, and fight the ****ing boss. He's really hard, people. Alright guys, I'm out.

Note: This will not prevent you from getting flamed.
Note2: I don't claim to be grammatically correct all of the time, I make mistakes too, so don't bitch if my grammar isn't perfect.

I care.... but if it's something as small as 'gonna', I really don't give a shit. And signing your name at the end of a post is superfluous, but not necessarily horrible... just a waste of time.

Yes, I noticed. I refrained from commenting on it because it's sort of best left for people to find for themselves. Errors include grammer, "correct" grammar, whereas the commonly accepted adjective is "proper" (I've never really learned grammar in school, so I'm not sure if that's technically incorrect), to many, exept, transfering, and probably a few more if you look at sentence structure.

But most of it doesn't matter.

I agree, people typing in ebonics is just stupid.

I admire your fashionable running shoes. Drop them Nikes off yo ass before I blast you, mother ****er!

Frank? (IceDevil)

I'm like you though, I only put something like "~SouLeSS" after things I think are really important, and are actually though out, instead of just instant inspiration.

I always make sure I spell things to the best of my abilites, and use punctuation wherever needed.

I also try to make sure I am grammatically correct, and I tend to proof read my posts.

It's just a habit. I don't like to seem illiterate and or like an idiot.

I do occasionally type "gonna" or "wanna", but those are common words that even people tend to say as a form of slurring two words together.

Ask TheAce, he tells me how the Spanish do that with all of their words. We tend to do it with those in real speech, so we end up posting it.

The most common mistake I make in posts, and that I let slide, are forming paragraphs. Oh well, you'll all live. Right? ;)
