Lag time and xp

M

Am running xp on new computer with cable connection. Accessing internet and emails is fast. But, Whenever I try to get into a game of starcraft, lag time goes high and can't make it. Does anyone know what might be causing this. When I had windows me I never had this problem.

Please help!!

There is a test there you can take, if anything is wrong with your connection, it will tell you what you can do to correct it.

Another possibility,,, turn off all un-needed applications, downloads, etc...

Yet another possibility,,, your system may not be big enough to play without lag.

XP is a great OS, we run it on both of our PCs, but it is a memory hog, this may be the biggest problem.

Don't take it the wrong way, you didn't give specifics, and I don't look over other peoples shoulders, to compare size.

I think I had this problem with XP also. Unfortunately, I don't remember how I fixed it. I'm running windows 98 right now anyways. Does it let you join games at all? Is it just really slow? Or does it not let you join any games at all?

It is most likely your WinXp. It is a RAM eater. I don't know the specifics, but 128 RAM will not do well with Win XP. I remember when I tried installing XP on a computer with 64 RAM >.< IT RAN SO SLOWLY!!! Since then we got a 256 RAM upgrade and gone back done to 98 SE, so everything runs smooth now.
