Ladder vs. Non-Ladder

I kinda understand the difference, but not to it's entirety. Whats the difference between them and how do you know which one your character is playing on?

Also, I have been playing and twice so far a message that looks something like this pops up - "3664 SOJs have been sold to the local merchant." What in God's name does that mean?

ok for the first part. the difference is that some runewords can only be made on ladder, some items can only be found on ladder, you can upgrade runes to a higher lvl on ladder. you can tell which one your charc is by checking "ladder" on the create charc screen thus making your charc ladder. and the "so and so sojs been sold to merchants" is a random number generated to show you the d-clone might show up within your game. the number itself doesnt mean squat.

btw in case you didnt know the d-clone that rehab brought up is a new monster added by blizzard that is found by the soj ticker going up and there is no real way to get the ticker started... its kinda luck. if it says the clone has entered the game you gotta go find a unique char and he'll turn into what looks like diablo himself... but harder. he's a tough one to kill and in hell mode he drops a godly charm called the anhiluhus that gives +1 skills, resist, stats, and +exp gained.

the counter is actually started by sojs being sold on that server ip, but the number shown isnt the real number sold

yea its random generated but if u keep sellin itll go up by a normal variable
