Elena tosses and turns in the night. The thoughs "I need her, I want her" run through her head. She wakes up in a sweat. She looks around in the night, everything still with the moonlight comming in the window. She runs her fingers through her curley red hair and lays back down.
"Whats happening to me."
Elena wakes up in the morning, her mom calling her name and the alarm going off. "Get up, you're late," her mother calls up the stairs. Elena hops out of bed and opens her closet to get out her school uniform. She slips it on her uniform and looks at herself in the mirror. She picks up her brush laying on her dresser and combs her hair. She looks again in the mirror and smiles as she grabs her bookbag and walks down the stairs. Elena's mother is watching T.V. in the livingroom. Elena walks by and goes towards the door. She waves at her Mother and walks out, heading to school.
Elena walks into the school building where its filled with the monontonous green and white plaid school uniforms. She hugs her books on her chest as she walks down the hallways. The Nuns and Teachers smile at her as she walks down the main hallway. Elena stops in her tracks as she sees her friend, Julia, comming down the hall. She smiles big and runs up to see her. Julia notices her also and returns the smile.
"Hey Julia!" Lena says laughing. They walk down the hallway to their first class. They walk into the door where Sister Maya is standing in the front of the room. She smiles breifly at the girls as they take their seats. Elena takes a seat and Julia takes the one behind her. They socialize until the bell rings. Sister Maya then starts to conduct the class. Julia taps Elena on the shoulder and hands a crumbled piece of paper over Elena's shoulder. Elena quickly hides the note under her desk and carefully unfolds it to read what it says. Before Elena can completely open it, Sister Maya holds her hand out infront of Elena for the note. Elena places it into the palm of the Nun and apologizes. "There will be no note passing in here."
After the class, Julia smacks Elena on the arm and laughs, "Nice going." Elena rolls her eyes as they walk down the hallway to the next class. Julia grabs Elena by the arm. She smiles at her and pulls her closer. Elena tenses up but Julia laughs. Time slows down as Julia leans forward and gives Elena an innocent kiss on the cheek. She walks away and they go their seperate ways. Elena puts her hand on her cheek and looks down at the tiles on the floor. She walks off into her next period class.
Elena spaces out the whole time in the class. Her elbow is resting on the desk resting her cheek on her hand. She looks out the window, thinking of Julia. "I need her, I want her" races through her head. She thinks of all the innocent kisses and hugs they've shared. "I need her, I want her." Suddenly, a loud smack hits Elena's desk. The Teacher has smacker his ruler on her desk, getting her attention. Elena jumps and looks at him.
"Is there something out there?"
Elena knods her head no as the Teacher continues to conduct the class. She looks at the ground, still thinking about Julia.
At lunch, Elena and Julia meet up again. Julia smiles and teases Elena a bit. Elena isn't laughing and Julia picks up somethings wrong. They go outside where they sit under a tree and chat a bit.
"Julia," Elena says quietly. "How do you feel.....about us?"
"About....us?"
"Yes."
Julia smiles at Elena. She moves her hair out of the way and moves into kiss Elena, this time not aiming for the cheek. Elena leans forward as Julia gives a small peck to Elena. Julia smiles and Elena looks down at the ground. Julia picks up her bookbag and walks away with a smile on her face. Elena sits at the tree thinking. She turns her head and looks at Julia walking away.
"Wait!" Elena yells out. Yulia stops in her tracks and turns around. Elena runs up to her and puts her arms around her and kisses her. Julia puts her arms around Elena and returns the kiss. In the distance, Sister Maya is watching gaping at the site.
Julia and Elena go back into the school from their lunchbreak. Julia and Elena laugh and giggle as they walk down the hall, holding hands. They walk down the hallway past the Teachers and Nuns. None of them say 'Hello' and even turn their heads. Elena and Julia ignore it and continue walking to their next class. The students are turning their heads and whispering as they walk by. Elena's laughter goes silent and looks down at the tiles on the floor. Their grip on eachother's hands losen to where they are hanging onto eachother by a couple of fingers top eventually not holding hands at all. Elena and Julia go their seperate ways and walk down the opposite ends of the hallway without saying bye. Both girls are stared at and given looks by from both the staff and students. Elena holds her books down by her hips and walks into the class.
Elena is the first to enter her class. She sits near the front right side of the room. Other students file in, going to the seats farthest from Elena. They whisper and stare at her, and even scoot their desks away from her. Elena ignores them and looks out the window, at the tree she was sitting at with Julia. She smiles to the thought of what had happened there before.
