Ok, I know the common way to sniff item id when its on your own character, simple enough.

But which packets do I sniff to find the item id of an item put in a trade window??? And how do I derive the item id from the packet?
Please be kind enough to tell me, I used to know, but now I'm forgetting.

Look into the packet list an look for item pick up.

You can not know the stats before it is ident. Once you ident it is locked unless you rollback.

No, my post does not refer to seeing item stats before id'ing...
rather the actual item id# when someone else puts item up in trade.

Err, placebo, I don't exactly get what you're saying by, "Look into the packet list an look for item pick up". What packet is this? And how am I supposed to derive the item ID from this (IE, whats the "format" of the packet? EX: 9c might be 9c [dword] [word] [byte] [byte] )

I am still confused....

I want to know the ID of an item someone puts into trade screen....
As for looking for item pickup in packet list, I looked, still confused.
And as for saying "the dword would be the id", I have yet to even know which packet to be sniffing, let alone where in the packet the Dword part is....
