I'm guessing that since you've never actually used Spoiler for a purpose that it's needed, you can stop crying about it and find something else to complain about.

It's to hide information about movies, or what have you that people might not want to see because it would ruin the experience for them.

Yes, but since the last time somone posted a movie spoiler was quite some time ago, and nobody uses it for any rule purpose other than to annoy people, I think you can spare typing in a few characters.
