Whats up everybody. I dont really know if im supposed to be writing this down here. If im in the wrong section, sorry, must have overseen a rule, but i think im in the right place.

Anyway id like to know if playing the computer on a custom game is good enough practice for battlenet, and where can i find some basic strats on countering (or any kind of action in the game for that matter) with any or all races, cuz i just cant seem to beat the dam computer (I know im a noob). I tried some strats that i have read here (NE mass archer strat, and the comp clobberd me ate me alive)

Any help will be recieved

Computers are not very good practice. They might help you with building units fast, but they cannot teach you the general tactics of rushing and fast expanding. Comps are good for "testing" stuff on, but other than that, they are pretty much dead weight.

I recommend to just start playing on bnet. You can't win if you don't lose, remember that. ;)

Yee!

Yaw. Playing a comp isn't much practice. Incase you are new to WC, seeing as how you're asking and you're new to the forums then play through the campaign/Single player or play a couple of comps. You won't get 'advanced' practice but you'll pick up basics like the tech tree, unit basics, etc. There's nothing worse than a new guy hopping into RT..You might get your s/n banned!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!112jsdxckd..*Cough*

Besides, I remember when i was new(not saying you are) and i played and easy comp and lost. (Yesterday)

btw dont mass archers. Mass mercenarys!

That's no way to make friends, Auron. I think you need to go apologize to them right now..

yes!

ya the first thing i ever say to a greenhorn is to play the campaign and from it, choose the race that u thougt was the easiest and most familiar to use. do a couple of 4v4 games until u have a working build order and start winning. then move onto 3v3 and think of when you should start doing some upgrades and expanding. go on 2v2 and finally choose a broad array of units that u will focus on. then move onto bnet.

You get ideas to defend in large team games, remember that, but otherwise, any focused strat will kick their butt.

There are flaws in the AI, like if you pile billions of towers everywhere they start hanging around your outskirts while moving in and out.....

But otherwise, no, people are so much more unpredictable.

Heres my opinion on what the dumb comp helps for:

comp (easy) -Congratulations you're ready to own a total noob wh doesnt even know his units.
com (normal)-good you can own in bnet lvl 1-3 (if they dont have another account which is lvl20)
comp (insane)- you can own ppl up to lvl 8(whic would be kinda luck)

Above, forget to play vs comps anymore

funny thing is i used have trouble beating comp on easy but have won 2 FFA's in my tender (which is sh!T but you gotta start somewhere) and I am pretty sure it was because i never rushed and didn't expand well.

Comps give you a comfort level with your build order and the units you use.

oh and i beat insane comps easily. just build up ur defenses and mass air units gryphs/bats/gargs/chims. mainly cheap units or units that can really pound on their base from behind and keep doing hit and run. i swear the AI is messed up....

It does cheat, and I have. They aren't too hard to beat, like noob_ said. You just have to get the right units, and tech like a mofo.
