Okay, basically what's going on is that my internet isn't playing games right. I'm stuck with 56k, but on my older computer that didn't matter. Games like Diablo 2 and Starcraft would never lag, but since I got my new computer it lags like hell. Sometimes it will work okay but usually it sucks. I'm connecting to the internet at the same speed that I was on my old computer. And don't say "get cable blah blah" because if I could I would. ><

Probably has something to do with the virus you posted about in your other thread, or spyware. Scan with your spyware remover and virus scan.

Check if you have the latest drivers for your modem.

Well, it was acting this way when I first got this computer, and I don't have any spyware on it. Meh, what is this about "latest drivers"?

Find the manufacturer of your modem, go to their website and look for drivers for the make of your modem, there could be some updated ones.

Drivers are what your computer uses to interact with other hardware. If the drivers don't work perfectly for everyone, then the company who made the product will generally update them.
If it was like that when you bought it then it could also be the modem's firmware. Go to your modem's manufacturer's site and check around for a firmware update.

Nah, nothing is. It only runs slow during games, even when nothing else is running.

It could be shitty disks. Get nocd cracks for d2(onlyers) and i think i remember using one for sc, but idk what its called. My friend had a scratched up disk and he lagged EVERY time he was at arreat summit in d2. He has dsl and a decent comp, but the disk was pretty dicked up.
