Problem seems relatively simple.

A) Your Starcraft disk is broken/damaged/dirty. Try cleaning it. If that doesn't work, buy a new one.

B) Your disk drive is broken. Your computer probably has a policy, bring it back and get it fixed.

C) You have autorun disabled. Go to Start, and click on Run. Then type

d:

into the box next to "Open:" and click Ok. When the folder opens with your StarCraft CD's data in it (assuming it isn't problem A or B listed above), click on SETUP.EXE to begin the program.

If this is the problem, you may want to create a shortcut to make it easier in the future.

First, make sure the old SC installation is completely gone. Open your Program Files folder and delete your Old Starcraft folder (save the maps somewhere else in case you want to save those for later). When you uninstall Starcraft, some files are usually saved for later installations. After deleting the Starcraft folder, try the installation again. If you don't want to open and close the disc tray again, just double-click your CD drive from My Computer.

If you want to play bad enough, format your computer, and when you're done re-installing Windows or whatever you're running, install SC first. Other than that, seems to be a major problem with your computer, since the CD is perfectly fine, as you said.

You just formatted your computer?

Well... that kind of makes all the things I was just gonna post kinda irrelevant. In any case, different discs won't matter because they're all the same game. Uh... you're trying to install Starcraft and not Starcraft: Brood Wars, right?

Do other CDs work fine on your computer? And what is your OS?
