I'm scared..

My mom has been overweight for a good portion of her life. She's tried diet amongst diet, etc. and nothing works. She's using her trump card now..

She's going into surgery on monday to get a gastric bypass done. For all of you that don't know what that is..it's basically getting your stomach stapled..so she will lose a lot of weight.

The reason I'm scared is..though it's not a high chance, but is still a chance..she can die from this surgery..I really hope she doesn't.

Dunno..I'm atheist and all, but if there by chance is a god can someone pray? Heh..sounds retarded..but ya..

that is a very dangerous surgery..... i recommend just exercise on a daily basis for a few months and it'll do for shure

I know how it is. And I know what it feels like to actually happen. My mom died last April after going in for "routine" surgery on her heart. 99% chance of sucess they told us. Fuck hospitals, I can't stand them.

Maybe the reason that the diets are helping is that she has a disease, i heard of one that makes your cells absorb less of the energy from food and storing it, so you have to eat more and get fat =/.

I'm sure she'll be fine. As far as I know, no ones ever actually died from the surgery (but let's not get into that anyway). It's just a chance, but a very slim one at that. Of course, just knowing that it COULD happen is still some what scary, especially since it's someone you care about. Just think positive, and everything will be fine .

I wish her the best of luck. I'm sure once it's done, and she starts to loose all that weight, it will definitely be worth it
