Ideal MF sorc for using YAMB Bot

This guide is based on Pindle, Meph, Trav, Countess, Andy, and Shenk run. AKA YAMB bot from D2JSP.


Well as you've all noticed, theres alot of immunes in hell in our most beloved mfing areas...

Heres some examples:
Pindleskin's minions = COLD IMMUNE
Countess = COLD IMMUNE
Skeletons (some) = COLD AND LIGHTNING IMMUNE
Shenk and Eldritch's minions = PHYS AND COLD IMMUNE

...

Fallen Ones (weaklings :p) = FIRE IMMUNE

See where Im getting at? I have Blizzard and Forb Sorceress, Forb was too weak since I didnt have good items, but Blizzard was decent I guess, with strong merc etc..

But she cant do shit against countess, or pindle skin minions, or shenk, because they're all cold immunes... and can your merc handle 187931876938 monsters at once? Probly not, that you'd be just wasting your pot and money...

And how about Lightning? Well from what I know, Meph has high Lightning resistance, and talk about those Misshapens/Tainted, they're lightning immune.. Taking a look at Skeletons, all the ones in Act 1 (pit) are lightning/cold immune. Looking at Trav's Council Members, half are fire immune and half are lightning immune, hmm... well you maybe able to kill fire immunes, but you wont do good job in lightning immune right?

So this is my conclusion for most of you, and well, my self ;):
Fireball/Meteor/Forb Sorc.

Am I being contradicted? Why yes of course! I was the one who was bitching all about 'mixing elements = BAD', but you have to realize, I have this kind of sorc in West, and well.... I learned to hate fire ball sorc for some reason when I played thar, but now I realize the necessity of these sorcs.


Ok, lets just take a look at Fire immunes in our MFing areas for now:
Prime examples:
  • Darkone/Devilkin (AKA weak shits, located in Act 1)
  • Ghouls (AKA slowasses, located in Act 1)
  • Council Members (AKA annoying craps, pretty strong, located in Act 3 Travincial)
  • Various bosses (AKA your merc vs Bosses, you win, located Act 1~5)
Note: There may be more, remember that Im basing this guide on Pindle, Meph, Trav, Countess, Andy, and Shenk run.

Here are the solutions to these Fire Immunes:
Darkone/DevilKin - Merc, and Frozen Orb
Ghouls - Merc, and Frozen Orb
Council Members - Merc and Frozen Orb

See the pattern? Yes? Good.


Now that you know a bit about monsters/minions around the MFing Area, lets get to the char build shall we?

Stats
Strength - Self Explainatory, just make sure you have enough strength to wear your items.
Dexterity - Debatable topic, IMHO, I dont put any points into this, well maybe I do, just enough to wear Ali baba with all the bonuses I get from charms and such (on my blizz sorc, I only put 10 points into dex), but some people say "YOU NEED 75% BLCOK~!!", sorry, to be honest, you have skill called "Teleport", which will help you dodge enemies. Your choice, either 75% block or none.
Vitality - Rest of your points, no questions asked
Energy - None, no questions asked.

Example of Stats in sorceress around mid level 80's
Str = 158 (with items)
Dex = 70 (with items)
Vit = 312 (with items)
Energy 67 (with items)

Life = 967 (with items)
Mana = 563 (with items)

Note: Obivously, yes you've guessed it, this is my blizz sorc, shes not strong, but then again, she doesnt have all the uber 1337 items like you may have, and this stats is from MF gears.


Ok, now lets get to something we all love, SKILLS
Fire Bolt = 20, one of synergies, very important
Fire Ball = 20, one of your major skills to use,
Meteor = 20 , one of your major skills to use,
Fire Mastery = 20, without it, you wont get much damage.
Chilling Armor = 1, We'll need it.
*OPTIONAL*Frozen Orb = 17, your optional key in killing Fire Immunes. Put 1 point when you hit lvl 30, and rest points into this after you've done with Fire stuff.
*OPTIONAL*Cold Mastery = 1, just helping out with Frozen Orb.
*OPTIONAL*Enchant = 1, use it on your merc! or your party! :grunt

Pre-Reqs (including Optional)= 11, Those skills are: Ice Bolt, Ice Blast, Frozen Armor, Shiver Armor, Glacial Spike, Blizzard, Frozen Nova,Warmth, Blaze, Inferno, and Firewall.
Pre-Reqs (without optional) = 4, Those skills are: Warmth, Blaze, Inferno, and Firewall.

Including all Optional, your level will be:
Level 99, LMAO which is why you need to put Frozen orb after you're done with all fire skills ;) (including all skill quests)

Without Optional Skills, your level will be:
Level 73 (including all skill quests)


Now, lets take a look at MF GEARS
Headset: Shako with Ptopaz (or ist, w/e)
Armor: Tal's Armor with Ptopaz
Belt: Goldwrap
Glove: Perf Chancy or 35% ++
Weap: Ali Ba Ba with 2 ist <-- gewd
Shield: Rhyme, or 4 Socket shield with 4 IST, or Spirit
Ammy: 2 Sorc skill with MF (40 or 30, I forget)
Ring1: Perf Nagerling
Ring2: Perf Raven (if you arent wearing Rhyme), or Perf Nagerling (if you are wearing Rhyme)
Boots: Perf War Trav
Your Inventory: Anni, Gheed's, and 7%mfscs.
Note:Good luck in finding these items!

With these, you should have about 715 mf, around there, in level 99 (I didnt add any 7%mf scs here).

Now its time for! MERCENARY
Here are some mercenary you SHOULD get:
  • Act 2 nightmare Defensive - Holy Freeze Aura
  • Act 2 nightmare Offensive - Might Aura
  • Act 2 normal Defensive - Defiance Aura
I would recommand holy freeze, because well, it freezes minions for ya =) if not, then go with Might, kill off fire immunes quickly =)

Merc's gears:
Headset: Tal Helm, Vamp Gaze (perf), Dream (holy shock)
Weap: Reaper's Toll, Fortitude (chilling armor), Infinity (conviction), Insight (meditation), Last wish (might aura), BOTD, Tomb Reaver, Bone hew.
Armor: Bramble (thorn), CoH, Stone, Dragon (holy fire), Glad Bane.

Here is what I would suggest:
  • Act 2 nightmare Defensive - Vamp gaze/Dream, and Infinity/Lastwish, Bramble.
  • Act 2 nightmare Offensive - Vamp gaze/Dream, and Reaper's Toll/Infinity, Bramble.
  • Act 2 normal Defensive - Vamp gaze/Dream, and Infinity/Lastwish, Bramble.

Now, I know, those are VERY hard to come across with, so until then, try this:
Helmset: Tal helm, Vamp Gaze
Weap: Reaper's toll, Bone hew (two amn), Arioc's Needle
Armor: Duriel's Shell, etc...

Note: make sure they are all eth, etheral = better for mercs!

I dont actually mf run a lot. so dont take my opinion that seriously N_edd. but this sorc seems to be a jack of all trades, which also makes it slightly weak in all the elements. My suggestion is just go with either fire/lightening etc. or just go with one element but good -resist items. You wouldve wasted points in ice on this build for it to be ineffective, or maybe im just a fat noob. :p Frankly tho... i would stick with one element with good -resist items. but nice guide, just a lil fine tuning needed

uhhh its fire/forb, you cant make fire/lightning since making lightning as secondary wont do anything, lightning is jackshit without synergies,

I dont know Mr.Sloth, when I made it, Forb did help against fire immunes, beucase most fire immunes in MF areas tend to be weak ones (Fallen for example.)

Yes little tuning is needed, I wrote it pretty quick, so there maybe errors here and there, I dont ask for flaming, just suggestions that I could take.

and sweaty, are you on drugs? Eldritch and Countess arent fire immunes, they are cold immunes, and they die from fball pretty fast, since lightning is 1-23896237698237 right? RIGHT :p

and Like I said, this is for YAMB bot or multibot, and maybe other stuff as well,

it says optional for a reason, your merc isnt going to be able to handle 18719769837621 fire immunes fast enuf.

If you dont like fire sorc, why bother posting.
