ok, ive never had to get down and dirty with installs, ive just used reinstall disks from time to time on older machines, never with custom built and never with such newer hardware, nor have i ever completely built a computer and had to go from scratch software wise.

anyways, my friend built his new computer, and used an old XP disk he bought for his moms computer [turned out it was a reinstall disk, so we had to use a windows trial disk for 98 or something and then use his moms upgrade disk if im not mistaken]

long story short, i need a method of getting past the "Activate windows online" or whatever it is once you install the OS. yes i know this isnt discussible on the forums, so pm's or IM's would be great)

my goal is to hopefully get his OS to where mine is, running [obviously] without an experation date before he has to validate/activate his windows, and preferably able to be viewed by microsoft.com as a genuine copy of xp and allow him to online update

secondly, my own problem

im wanting to completely reinstall windows here soon [computer is starting to bog down some...] and i want to make sure i dont reformat and get screwed. i dont know if i have all myd isks so if someone could please give me a list of -every- driver i would nead [generic, Video card, Chipset, Nic] to make sure i know everything i need to have, also if i could give what i have and someone could assist me in located all the drivers i need so i can make a new burned CD with all of them, that would be great

I am not going to help you with question 1 and I strongly suggest you remove it because you are encouraging hacks or warez...

As for drivers, they are kind of hard to find for default drivers, but I will see.*

If you want to test out a disc to see if it's going to work for you or not, I highly suggest downloading a program called VMWare Workstation and seeing if the install works properly.

For the windows activation thing, just find a torrent for the corporate edition of xp. It has no activation.
