I Got A Download System Working Over Database!!!

I know its not exactly what you had in mind, Mizu, but I think after I changed the appearence, it would look pretty good. I say we use it for now (cause we REALLY gotta get something up soon), and then later on we can add something else, if it suits us. Its ez for anyone who has an FTP client to update it (you need the FTP to put the file on the server). Tell me what you think, and I'll give you all the admin password if you agree with me that for now, this should be the way to go.

Ok, this is great! We will probably change the colors in the future, dosn't matter now like you said. I'll just wip up a script that displays the last updated database files for replays and maps. Should I also do that for most recent "files"?

Also if you notice the color scheme, then you'll see it resembles that of this forum, a variation of grays and some dim blues, that was one of the main reasons. Anyways, I'm gonna make a real cool looking splash with 3d studio max, just sorta describe it so I can render something to your taste, and we need to decide on a motto, it's just a web site perc, unless.. you want to keep the filler I put in for now. LOL

About the splash, just go ahead and do something you like. Its up to you, you're the one who wants to make it.

And about the motto, I guess I'll post something asking for Ideas, as I realy don't have any. I think about it.

I set you up so you had a username for the database:
name: Mizu
pass: freepopcorn


That should work.

Ok, the database information is good and works well. It may seem wierd looking, like there's an error but that's because we're in the newlayout folder. Otherwise, the layout is absoluetly complete. Just have to move it into the main htdocs directory then the php should work.

Alright!!! Lets just get it so theres some info on the pages (we can just copy and paist alot), and get it so there arn't any php errors, and then put it up!!!

ok so then i'll copy some stuff, ok? the content we have so far. i was thinking if our races guide would have all buildings, units for the 4 races plus special races and units. like the sentinel, and warden, corrupted night elf and captain's, all the special units and buildings. that would make us have the most extensive guide ever!

Yah, definately!!! Ive got about 4 staff members with nothing to do, so I'll just have them all start that.

Also, about the new layout, I've started moving all the stuff into the htdocs folder. I just left the index file out, so the old layouts still up for now. But the MySQL still doesn't work. Im checking the script, and from what I can tell (Im just comparing it to what it says in a book on MySQL I have), and it looks just fine, but I can't understand exactly what everything does. Could you go over it and make sure its right? www.wciii.com/display.php, thats where it is now.

i made copies of everything in the htdocs but there they are still there in newlayout. ok, i think i know the reason. my display my sql script is probably not matching yours, i'm using the variable $title and $url to get the title of the maps/replays and the url to download them so your variables have to be the same as mine. i think you have $pafile_name or something. i'll change mine.

Hey, if we can't get the scripts working, lets just take them off for now, just so we can get the new layout up. We can always add them later! That way, we can have the site active while we work on it

yah, i took out the maps and replays database. But when the site is developing we can set it up and even later allow user login so users can upload maps and replays from their HD.

OK, Races Guide Aldur is doing that, covered it with him. Right now Deltron is making a splash, cause said he felt un-needed; I gave up that job so he took it. Is it ok if I start a newsletter, weekly one; only like 2 pages?

Tupeq, Xander are currently Idle.. Could they start on content? That would be great considering their status right now. I can get the MySql for the DB done around late November. And I don't know whats happening with Dathe and Belgarath, if you know their AIM's, then please tell me. I need some info from them for the Staff Members page, and I dont know if they're still working on the site. Ttyl!

Ah ha, Swoops, why do you have Version 2 of the DL data base when you could get V3? Also, I finished the pics for the buildings for our guide a month ago, Once I have time I'll do races, I'm usually free saterday. I will probably get working then...but I always say that for schoolwork and never do.
