I got a problem w/ starcraft. Everytime i join a game, i lag, the game has green ping too. I join in w/ no problem, download the map w/ no problem, and when the host pushes the "start" button to begin the game, it pauses for a anotehr 5 seconds after the the original 5 second countdown. Once in the game the lags horrible and everyone (sometimes) apears in my drop box list. Ive had one game where everyone bared w/ the lag, that was fun ! cuz it was my 1st time playing sc in a long time, but ya, it always has basicly been an unplayable lag. Oh ya, i dont lag in 1vs1s either.

Anyways, I tried to see if it would work w/ windows 98, me, 2000 and xp, same result, none make a difference. And Im currently using windows xp.
Ive done this w/ 2 different computers too, and ! This never really happened before i got dsl. ^^;
I got sbc yahoo dsl, 2wire home portal modem.
Geforce4 Ti4600.
And ummmm, oh ya, on Warcraft 3, i dont lag, im on west gate too, on btoh sc and w3, but i lag on sc, not on w3.
I'm unable to host a game either on sc, no one ever shows up, I geuss its some letency problem.

But if theres something i left out ask me ! and if u know what the problem is tell me so i can fix it ! ^^

K thanks, i'll be waiting for ur postssssss

Hmm...have to tried re-installing SC? It's clearly not RAM issue, cuz you say WC3 plays fine....odd.

it must just be the sc servers... or something else. are there any ports blocked on your computer that starcraft uses but warcraft doesnt??

try turning off your firewall(s) and connect to a game.

all see if you have any other programs interfering with the ports starcraft uses for online play.

Ive turned off my firewalls before, same result but, i have heard before about maybe the ports are causing the problem, thing is i dont know much about ports. Ive turned off every program and runned sc alone, and stil same result.

maybe your ISP doesnt like the ports that starcraft uses... or the server you are trying to connect to just really is outdated and has issues becuase starcraft is such an old game. Im guessing if you cant find anything wrong with YOUR side of the connection... its more than likely thier side of the connection. you might want to contact BLIZZARD about this....

I tend to forget.. what are the two ports that SC uses? 6112 and something else, I believe.. I also think its rare that these two ports would be used by something else..
