I can't install shit =/ Help!

70% of the progs I try to install (like Ventrillo) simply don't work. The progs work, but I can't install them, now I am starting to get pissed.

Starting the installer-exe works fine and I get to the point where the installation starts (a status-bar is filling up a space and showing how far the installation has proceeded that way, the installer is performing the actual installation, you know what I mean), well here comes the problem:

70% of the progs I try to install GET STUCK somewhere along this bar! At first I thought the installer was bugged but now I know that something is wrong with my computer. Sometimes at 14%, sometimes it doesn't even start, sometimes it gets stuck halfway through and sometimes it stops at 99%. If I try to press "Cancel" I get a "Sure about canceling it?"-Message and then it ****s up so I have to close it with taskmanager.

I *sometimes* manage to fix it by running the prog in Windows 98/2000/ME mode (I have XP Home Edition installed), but in some cases it simply does not work.

I have NO idea why this is happening and I can't format at the moment so please help me to solve this stupid ass problem.

make sure you have enough space on your hard drive to install the software. Also run a disk clean up and stuff.

Chances are your memory is either damaged somewhat. Either that or there are too many unstable things like RealPlayer running in the background.

You can try Safe Mode to install too.

Certain patches for XP might help too. There was this bug in ME where a program when executing something would constantly generate 0 byte files until the system crashed. -.-;

lol Sic I have like 15gb left ... Im gonna try to clean up my comp a bit ... any1 know any good cleaner progs?
