In my us history class, my teacher digressed from the topic on how native americans were killed by disease brought by white settlers. Then i thought about aliens for some random reason, i day dream a lot :(. Well anyways, my hypothesis is that we may not meet aliens for another few centuries because like the white settlers that brought disease, aliens might(more likely will) have diseases that are likely transmitable to our planet and would majorly effect the eco system. Or, we may have a disease that would kill them in mass and they dont like that idea. So im thinking will probably never meet aliens in this lifetime or the next few.

Make sense? debate?

If the aliens are advanced enough to build ships that can travel lightyears, then I'm sure they can build a hazmat suit :)

Aliens will most likely never contact us because of the enormous size of the universe. I think that aliens exist somewhere, for the same reason, but they are not likely to have mastered interstellar faster than light travel, or ever even come near us.

Ever read the War of the Worlds, by H.G. Wells?

They are making a movie of it, I think. Won't say no more, so I won't spoil the movie ;)

Either way, of course it's possible, and likely, that if there are aliens, they are not prepared to the diseases we have, as we are not prepared to those they have. Unless they have special suits, and are prepared. That's the reason why astronauts have to be on quarantine (I think).

I find it hard to believe that we are the only things in existance. That's just crazy. Who knows, maybe Star Wars is actually real?

It's shit like that, that makes you wonder. We think we're so technologicaly advanced, but there could be aliens that are SPYING on us now, with invisible satelites watching our every move planning out redemption to Mother Gaia

That and the language barrier. People who speak different languages can still communicate somewhat because of body language, but alien body language would be completely different, as humans have lived somewhat together, all on the same planet, so many things in languages and body language are similar. SInce they have had no contact at all their ways of communicating would be completely different.

You know, if there really are other intelligent life forms in this universe, other aliens, than we are aliens as well. XD

I do not doubt such beings exist, but we wont come into contact with them in our lifetime. That is, we wont be the ones meeting them. Who knows if some advanced race is already scouring the universe looking for us. Hell, they could show up at anytime. Who knows..? Gives you something to think about..

also makes you wonder about how their bodies would take our disease, viruses, etc. and wether humans COULD get along with these beings or not. Hey, how do you shake hands with an evolved form of dust? :grunt

Everyone assumes aliens would be far more advanced than us, what if it is us who discovers them in their caves? (won't be for a long time but it could happen)

Mathematics would be the common language. We just would need to know the appropriate translations for each other.

If they can travel halfway acrost the galaxy, I'm sure they have some sort of a translator.

Another 'if' here. If they have the technology to travel the stars, they have probably acheived global peace on their planet, or at least an alliance between them all. Why would they want to visit Earth, which is populated by barely evolved monkeys whose main activity is tribal warfare?

trade? perhaps we have something they dont, its not like they are just going to kill us all and take the resources...even though that is a possiblity...now, if we traded with aliens, lets say, silicon, what would we trade for? their resources? their technology? becaue we cant just trade for money since we dont have any kind of money rate or even know if they use currency.

chances are the types of sickness they have wouldn't even survive on our planet because of the different structures of things like oxygen. Aliens might breathe hydrogen.. or anything, who knows? Maybe the don't even get their energy from breathing.
It's interesting stuff.

Yeah. All of our scientists have been looking for planets that could support carbon-based life. What if it isn't carbon based? There could be all sorts of possibilities to base life off of.

When Europeans brought diseases to Indians, they were bringing a virus to a fellow human. You inject AIDs into an animal, and nothing will happen. You inject AIDs into an alien, and nothing will happen. See where I'm going with this?
