How to make custom icons?

Ok, i need to know how to make custom icons. Gonna use them to create more items. Note that i haven't edited anything "outside the worldeditor" before, but this can't be to hard. Can it?

Using any picture editing program, make an icon with equal size to wc3 icons (not sure what size it is though). Convert it to a .blp with a conversion program. Then import into wc3, and in the items editing section change it's icon to a "custom icon" with the path of your icon in the import section.
