i just did a p diamond + shael + tal in cube with my frostburn and BOOM war gauntlet frostburn. but i believe u can only upgrade normal items not exeptional and elite. mayb u can do that 2 on ladder

for all the cube recipes go check out Arreat Summit

as far as unique armor goes, you can upgrade any normal unique up to an exceptional base item using the Tal+Shael+PDiamond cube recipe, whether you're on single, open, closed, ladder, or non-ladder.

if you want to upgrade an exceptional unique armor to an elite base armor type, you'll have to use a Ko+Lem+Pdiamond recipe, which only works on Ladder.

I may sound stupid but what is a Ko and Lem?

Ko and Lem are runes that can be found in the game. kinda like little flat skipping stones with carvings that give them magical properties, depending on how you use it. you can see the entire rune list here.

Ko is rune #18 and Lem is rune #20. the higher the rune #, the harder they are to find and the higher the player level to use in equipment.
