How can i play SC On lan?

I have tried all the options in multiplayer to try to play lan with my bro, but all has failed... We would play on b.net but him and i cannot play on b.net at the same time.... So none of the options work in multiplayer for SC (Just SC BTW, Not brood war) and we cannot seem to play, We are using a router also, So becaus this did not work, I went on the net and tried to find some programs, maby we can play through a game listing program instead, so far i tried gamespy arcade, and All Seeing Eye (AKA Ase). So can someone help me or is there a gamelisting program out there that can let us play SC such as Gamespy ??

1. Both of you open Starcraft.
2. Click Multiplayer, then select Regular (or BW)
3. There is a list of about 5 options. Select the one on the very bottom.
4. One person host a game. The other person can join the game.
5. Play.

I play LAN a lot, so I've had problems lots too. You need to go on B.net to get the latest patch. I don't think UDP came in until a later patch.

I tried to install a patch for normal SC, then i got a no cd crack and it would not work...

I think i know why... Mine was downloaded and when i try to go onto bnet to get the update, i get a error and it tells me to reinstall SC, but it wasent a install file, it was a file with the files all there. is there a way i can just download the latest patch?? Maby then i can see all of them, and choose a gateway and such.

Ok, Now i installed Broodwar, downloaded a no cd crack, AND WORKED! But now.. i got a error. It's a data file error, here is what it says.

"Starcraft was unable to open a requierd filed. If this problem persists, try uninstalling and reinstalling Starcraft using the program "SETUP.EXE" on the Starcraft CD-ROM.

The problem occurred while trying to load a file
glue/PaLCs/tEffect.pcx
The system cannot find the file specified."

That is what the error says =(.


If someone could give me this file, or w/e on msn that would be cool .

I got that error too when I installed no CD Crack, and didn't edit the registry to change the location of the file. Did you
1. Make sure No CD crack is in right place.
2. Make sure setup.exe from NO CD Crack or from CD is in you SC directory?
3. Make sure the registry is pointing to SC (C:/Program Files/Starcraft) instead of D:\Starcraft? (if you downloaded 5 MB No Cd crack, then just double click on the registry file)

Put in directory (setup, and the other one). Then double click on the registry files.

w00t! Ok it's fixed i can go on brood war ^.^.

But one problem now.. On brood war i cannot connect to bnet, i don't know why. So i downloaded the patch for the expansion, 1.10, and when i use it, it says that the versions are the same! But they are not becaus it is looking at the starcraft file not starcraft broodwar, what do i do?

BTW, My directory for SC is
D:\Documents and Settings\Dual Trigga\Desktop\SC2\Starcraft

So, what you're saying is you downloaded the 1.10 patch for SC(not BW). Then you installed Brood War, and cannot go on battle.net? What error message does it give you?

I don't think if it will make a difference, but look here if you're behind a router/firewall.

No, SC is 1.10. BW is 1.08. i can't connect to bnet on BW, don't ask why becaus i don't know. So i download BW 1.10 Patch, I run it, and it trys to update SC, Now BW. And it says the versons are the same, and it dosen't update BW, It trys to update SC. Why?

i don;t know if it has been said or not but you need like an internet cafe thing going where all comps are hooked up to the same system or something like that... same patches are needed to.

1: You don't need a internet cafe for lan games, all you need are 2 computers or more hooked up on to a router
2: I have already figured out how to use lan. all i needed was SC 1.10 but now i am trying to find out how to update BW becaus BW is 1.08 and i cannot update on bnet on BW.
3: I am asking why when i run the BW 1.10 update, it trys to update SC not BW.

When I tested it on my comps, it seems that almost any of the later patches work but only if both computers have the same patch. And your 1.10 patch is from the Blizzard site, right?

Okay, number 1 thing is that you need to uninstall Orginal SC. You see, your Orginal SC can NOT be 1.10 or it will no update BW(Don't ask why it's like that I don't know ). You did get an icon when you dled the BW 1.10 patch from www.battle.net right? Well, you reinstall orginal, than install BW than click on the icon and it will patch up BW+Orginal.
