No one can teach you how to be good in reality. This game is a strategy game, there is no set way to really do anything. Truely, if your just trying to play around till season 3 there is not much point to get really involved, becuse Warcraft III can get really involving. If you play single player, you don't need us, if you go multiplayer you might want to read this http://battleforums.com/showthread.php?t=14219. Then if you decide to play some ladder games, here are a few strategies to start you off http://battleforums.com/showthread.php?t=76224.

It is much easier for you to play the game, then come with specific questions, because in general there is to much that we could tell you.

Experiences are what teaches you how to play game better IMO.

Its just like learning how to walk, strategy guides tell you how to walk, its just you gotta try hard and learn how to walk properrly, while doing that, you'll fall alot, but that shouldn't discourage you, keep trying I say!

A good way to get better is play someone who is about the same skill lvl you are. You don't really learn alot when you get slaughtered.

Thats true in some cases. I was playing this 100% newb and teaching him the basics of playing wc3roc. i told him about skills buildings hotkeys heros what buildings to FIRST buildbefore anything which is house alter baracks. I was doing so much talking i ended up getting slaughtered, good thing i was a custom game ;) he learned alot though and avoided gettign slaughtered :p but i soo coulda handed his ass to him, but im not the type to kick soemone when they are down.

Roc shows you nothing but what not to do when FT comes. The armor system is screwed up and people want you to mass air that game, or go necs or do things like that.

The game is VERY INVOLVING. You will be fighting, but you must keep building more guys, upgrade, think about what he might do after the battle, scout for expansions, expand yourself, save your hero, focus fire... It can be overwhelming.

So play with a clear mind so you won't get frustrated. That's probably the best advice there is.

One last note is always do something. What I mean is I see players watch their heroes heal or sit with their armies just because they lost a battle... Always move and keep the initiative. Make sure he responds, rather than waiting for him to come to you.

And if you have an army with the power of 2 and he has the power of 3, don't fight his army. Instead, go to his bases and do as much damage withOUT confronting his army. It really helps.

Hellwolf sort of mentioned it but there is an armor system. Some attacks are effective towrds some armors but not all. The only attack that really can hurt any armor type is chaos attack, but not many of those creatures exist or are easy to get that have chaos attack. Pay attention to what armors and attacks there are and utilize your hero to the fullest, he is your best friend :)

yes he is, ur hero can change the tide of battle. make sure to creep(tell ur hero to kill neutral hostile creatures) that will help ur hero gain experiance, lvl up, and become powerful.

btw; chaos attcks; here are sum of the ways: demon hunter(night elf hero) has a lvl 6 power to turn into a demon with a chaos attck; im am not sure at all...but maybe the mountain king in his avatar? ; i cant remember. all i can say is very few units have choas attck.
