Hey guys.
I am in need of some serious help. I'm currently in the process of making a Starcraft campaign about... 10 missions long. I was working on the second to last mission (which I had stupidly failed to back up...), and my computer crashed. I had been messing around with recording large wave files, and my harddrive was almost full. It froze for a bit, and I 'ctr alt del'ed everything. I was able to get back to my desktop fine, and everything seemed normal again (this has happened before). I opened my starcraft editor (X-tra editor) in classic mode, however when I went to open the map I had been working on it said it couldn't open it, and that I should check and make sure that it was a valid Starcraft map. I opened Starcraft to try and play the map (it was almost complete), and it said the map was corrupted.

My question: is there anyway to get it back? Can you guys help me out? Thanks! I've been working on this campaign on and off for aboout two-two and a half years, and really want to get it done.

Try this proram. It lets you export terrain, units, etc and import them into a fresh new map. See if this works. If it doesn't, post back.

i think i might be able to help... post the map (yes, i know it is corrupted) or email it to me at lord.hishado@gmail.com with the map dimensions and amount of players and I'll see what I can do. It might take some time, but I have a good theory on what happened...

STEPS I'LL BE TRYING (note: this is my first time doing this, so it isn't exacct):
1. make a new map with same terrain tyoe (jungle, instalation, ect.)
2. extract the info from the SCX or SCM file. they are techniacally MPQ file formats... don't ask what MPQ means!
3. i'm not sure, but I'll be searching for somethign that doesn't seem right in the corrupted map.

NOTE: i'm not 100% sure I can fix it, but I can try. I've used that same stratagey to read the triggers in a protected map, but it doesn't work too well for that.

You could send it to me too (heimdal@umich.edu). Assuming the MPQ is still intact I should be able to salvage a lot of it.

Unfortuately the MPQ itself is corrupted. I will attempt to repair it but I don't have much experience with this, so I can't guarantee anything.
