See now this problem is completely simple. But for some reason i c'ant get the answer.. So please someone help me.

2H(two)O -> O(two) + 2H(two)

the paranthesis refer to subscripts.

If there is 80 water mollecules. How many Hydrogen atmos and how many Oxygen atoms?

SO a water molecule is 2H(2)O? If that is true than there should be 320 hydrogen and 160 oxygen. But if it is just H(2)o as a water molecule than 160 hydrogen and 80 oxygen.

Well, I guess it's because, according to that formula, two molecules of water require one atom of Oxygen and two of Hydrogen, and so 80 molecules of water require 40 atoms of oxygen and 80 of hydrogen allrighty.

But it's a weird formula indeed, I coulda swear one atom molecule = H2O, not 2x H2O :p

Use mole ratios, of course. There are x moles of water (doesn't matter what x is) but one mole of anything is 6.02e23 molecules of that thing, so it's just ratios. There are 80 molecules of water so there are 40 molecules of oxygen and 80 molecules of hydrogen. Hence there are 80 atoms of oxygen and 160 atoms of hydrogen as the product. But this is a dynamic equilibrium (hydrolysis of water), so the question is really ambiguous with it in.*

Your teacher is afraid of writing fractional coefficients. It makes more sense as H2O -> (1/2)O2 + H2.

Actually this question is from a site. My teacher is actually a ****ing genious and he would never give us an ambiguous question like this. I get it now cuz it says mollecules and not atoms. its badly worded. Anyway thanks a lot guys

It's not badly worded per se, it's just that a lot of people fail at reading the question properly.*

um this is grade 10 in Canada. so yea

i just did my science midterm and i think i did fairly well, Some questions ****ed me up. like

Your given a solid and you are told that it is a metalloid. Write 4 observations and Results to these observations confirming that it is a metalloid.
